Daily itinerary

Day 1

Greetings! Welcome to the stunning South Africa! Upon your arrival at Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit, your guide will meet you in an open safari vehicle for a swift 20-minute transfer to Bundox Safari Lodge. A refreshing drink awaits you upon arrival, followed by a guided tour of your tent. Take ample time to settle in and familiarize yourself with the lush forest-like surroundings.

Later, indulge in a 60-minute spa treatment at Spa@Bundox. Upon your return, take a moment to freshen up for pre-dinner drinks. Unwind by the fire in the open-air boma, sharing stories about life in the bush, before savoring a delightful three-course dinner in the restaurant.

Day 2

You will be up very early for the start of a full day of adventure in the legendary Kruger National Park! With fresh coffee and rusks in the reception area before departing before dawn for the 40-minute drive to the Orpen Gate in an open safari vehicle, you will also receive a packed breakfast to enjoy either en route or at a scenic spot in the park.

You will stop at Satara Rest Camp restaurant for lunch (for your own account) before continuing your explorations, arriving back at camp just before sunset with time to freshen up and enjoy pre-dinner drinks around the fire while reminiscing about the day’s amazing sightings before dinner is served.

Day 3

After your morning meal, engage in a peaceful boat cruise on the Blyde Dam. This serene and captivating experience unfolds against the breathtaking backdrop of the Blyde Canyon and the majestic Three Rondavels. Led by an experienced tour guide, you embark on a leisurely journey along the dam. The canyon, acknowledged as the third-largest globally and the largest green canyon, thanks to its lush subtropical foliage, offers a stunning setting for exploration.

Later in the day, your agenda includes a visit to a nearby wildlife rehabilitation center. Rehabilitation centers serve as sanctuaries dedicated to the care, recovery, and eventual release of injured, orphaned, or distressed animals. These facilities play a crucial role in conservation efforts, providing specialized care and rehabilitation programs tailored to the unique needs of each species.

Guided tours typically offer visitors the chance to witness the center’s commitment to wildlife welfare, learn about conservation initiatives, and gain insights into the challenges faced by animals in the wild. It is a valuable and educational experience that fosters awareness and appreciation for the tireless efforts to protect and preserve diverse wildlife populations.

Day 4

Following a leisurely morning spent relaxing by the pool or in a shaded oasis overlooking the bush, indulge in an extraordinary afternoon adventure. A game drive in the Greater Kruger National Park, renowned for being a Big Five area, is an exhilarating safari experience that immerses participants in the heart of South Africa’s iconic wilderness. Conducted in open safari vehicles with experienced guides, the adventure unfolds against the backdrop of diverse landscapes, ranging from expansive savannahs to dense bushveld.

As the vehicle traverses the park, you have the opportunity to encounter the big five - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros - in their natural habitat. The skilled guides share their extensive knowledge of the park’s ecosystem, pointing out various species of flora and fauna and providing insights into the behaviors and interactions of the wildlife. The game drive is not only a quest to spot the big five but also an exploration of the park’s rich biodiversity, including a myriad of other fascinating creatures and bird species.

The magic of the Greater Kruger National Park lies in the unpredictability of wildlife sightings, creating a sense of anticipation and awe as each moment unfolds. The drive often includes stops at strategic points, allowing participants to appreciate the surroundings, capture breathtaking views, and learn more about the interconnectedness of the ecosystem. Whether it is the majesty of a lion pride, the grace of a leopard in a tree, or the sheer size of an elephant herd, a game drive in the Greater Kruger National Park promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of untamed Africa.

Day 5

As your remarkable journey concludes, relish in another splendid sunrise in the African bush. Commence your day early with a refreshing coffee on a nature walk, soaking in the serene surroundings. Following breakfast, anticipate your collection for a seamless transfer back to Hoedspruit’s Eastgate Airport, marking the commencement of your onward journey. Totweersiens (until you meet again)! Sala gabotse (remain in peace)!

Bundox Safari Co. looks forward to the possibility of welcoming you again. Keep in mind that your journey with Bundox is an ongoing adventure - this is just the beginning. Safe travels. Please send an inquiry should you wish to extend your stay to other areas of Botswana or South Africa.

Included excursions

You will experience a full-day Kruger National Park trip, a Blyde River boat cruise, a tour of a local Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and a nature walk.

Location

The safari will take place in Limpopo, South Africa. The world-renowned Kruger National Park is one of the highlights of South Africa. It’s home to a diversity of species including the fabled Big Five. The area you will traverse is one of the most game-rich regions of the park, renowned for its predator and elephant sightings. On the doorstep of South Africa’s most visited wildlife region, Bundox has the Kruger National Park, Panorama Route, and the Blyde River Canyon within arm’s reach. This vast country is undoubtedly one of the most culturally and geographically diverse places on earth.

Fondly known by locals as the 'Rainbow Nation', South Africa has 11 official languages, and its multicultural inhabitants are influenced by a fascinating mix of cultures. Discover the gourmet restaurants, impressive art scene, vibrant nightlife, and beautiful beaches of Cape Town; enjoy a local braai (barbecue) in the Soweto township; browse the bustling Indian markets in Durban; or sample some of the world’s finest wines at the myriad wine estates dotting the Cape Winelands.

Some historical attractions to explore include the Zululand battlefields of KwaZulu-Natal, the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg, and Robben Island, just off the coast of Cape Town. Above all else, it is a remarkably untamed wilderness with its astonishing range of wildlife roaming freely across massive unfenced game reserves such as the world-famous Kruger National Park. With all of this variety on offer, it is little wonder that South Africa has fast become Africa’s most popular tourist destination.

Food

You will be served all breakfasts and dinners included in the price. Bundox Safari Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy sundowners or coffee in the morning sun, while the boma is lively at night. Guests often sit around the campfire under the starlit skies and chat about the events of the day. The boma is a truly South African experience, where the focus is on laughter, listening to the sounds of the wild, and watching the fire crackle into the night.

Standards of hygiene about food health and safety in South Africa, are generally high in hotels, restaurants, pubs, and nightspots. Tap water in South Africa is safe to drink and cook with when taken from taps in urban areas. Not all tap water in rural areas is safe for consumption, so take precautions if necessary. It is safe to eat fresh fruit, vegetables, and salads and put ice in your drinks. South Africa's fish, meat, and chicken are of excellent quality, so there is no need to limit yourself when enjoying the local cuisine.

Restaurants are subject to South Africa's food safety control legislation, which is implemented by the local government. Regulations include certification and regular inspections by health inspectors to ensure hygienic standards are maintained. Street food is not as common in South Africa as it is in other countries, although vendors selling traditional snacks and meals can be found in city centers and townships. Food safety in such instances cannot always be guaranteed.
