Program

Day 1: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) via Nairobi to Maasai Mara (Kenya)

Upon arrival by early morning flight at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), you will be met by a representative for briefing and you will depart to Maasai Mara, start driving via the Great Rift Valley stopping at the viewpoint for a photo opportunity. Continue with the journey arriving in time for lunch in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, the northern part of the Serengeti, one of Kenya's most favored game-viewing areas.

The reserve covers 700 square miles of magnificent wilderness. It is the Africa of the imagination, with endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills. Afternoon game drive to see the sundowner as hoping to see lions in the large pride, elephants, buffalos, zebras, and numerous plain animals.

Day 2: Maasai Mara full day (Kenya)

You will enjoy a full day exploring the park in search of the Big five. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded there. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes, and elephant.

It is in the Mara where one of the most spectacular events of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebras from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels, are the predators of the savanna, lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures. Dinner and overnight at Ol Moran Tented Camp.

Day 3: Maasai Mara via Isebania border to Serengeti (Tanzania)

Pre-morning game drive after taking a light breakfast, then return for a stem breakfast. Leave the camp with a game drive en route. You will have a picnic lunch on your way to Isebania border, where you will change vans to four by four landcruisers. After immigration, proceed to Serengeti National Park, where you will have a game drive en route. Dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Katikati.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park full day (Tanzania)

Have an early breakfast campsite and spend the full day on a game drive in the park, with picnic en route. Admire a million wildebeest, each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfilling its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life. A frenzied three-week bout of territorial conquests, mating, and survival of the fittest, as 40 kilometers (25 miles) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters. On the annual exodus north, a replenishing of the species takes place during a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily before the 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) pilgrimage begins again. Dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Katikati Safari Camp.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater (Tanzania)

Enjoy an early breakfast and have a game drive en-route to Ngorongoro. You will eat a picnic lunch on the road, arriving for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.

Day 6: Ngorongoro to Lake Manyara (Tanzania)

After breakfast, you will descend to the crater floor for the half day crater tour and for a game drive. There are only two roads that connect the crater rim with the crater floor, one for driving down, one for driving up, and another that goes both ways.

Big mammals live there, including about 20 black rhinoceros, making the crater the best place in Tanzania to see the rhino.

The crater floor also has one of the highest carnivore densities in the world. Lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals are commonly seen, while leopards, servals and bat-eared foxes may be seen with some good luck. You’ll spend most of the day in the crater. Drive for dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Twiga Lodge.

Day 7: Lake Manyara to Arusha (Tanzania)

Enjoy a breakfast, then drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Explore the park famed for tree climbing lions. A picnic lunch will be offered. The Lake Manyara National park is serene and beautiful with main attractions of a rich bird life, tree-climbing lions, its elephants, and hippos that you can see at closer range than most other places. Later, drive to Arusha. Dinner and overnight at Arusha Tourist Inn.

Day 8: Arusha to Nairobi and connect to your scheduled flight (Kenya)

After breakfast, depart for Arusha and connect with morning safari shuttle that leaves at 7:00 a.m. to arrive in Nairobi at 2:00 p.m. You will be dropped at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) to catch your scheduled flight back home.

Location

This safari tour will take place in Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara, and other locations in Kenya and Tanzania.

Kenya

Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara is the land of African legend where lions are abundant throughout the park, as well as elephants, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of gazelle species. Cheetahs and leopards are also regularly seen while rhinos are less commonly seen. Furthermore, the annual wildebeest migration occurs from July to September.

On this time, big animals and their predators will be present in abundance. Additionally, several species of bee-eater, the flying rainbow bird which is the top of the Maasai Mara bird list, also present in the reserve as well.

Tanzania

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet, even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, Topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelle.

Ngorongoro Crater

The crater is roughly 20 kilometers or 12 miles wide and 600 meters or 2,000 feet deep. Once you’ve reached the top of the caldera, it takes about 45 minutes to descend to the crater floor. The floor is home to a rich and highly concentrated wildlife.

Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara is an alkaline lake and at certain times of the year hosts thousands of flamingos and a diversity of other bird life. Although it is one of the smallest parks, its vegetation is so diverse enabling it to host a variety of wildlife habitats.
