You will stay on your first night on the houseboat in Kumai, your second night will be in Pondok Ambung, your third night will be in Nipa Palm, your fourth night will be in a hotel in Banjarmasin, and your fifth night to seventh nights will be in Sari Lodge.

BorneoEcoTour Deluxe Houseboat, Deluxe Borneoecotour I:

The deluxe cabins have queen size bed, air-conditioning and a fan. The air conditioning is optional for use but try not to use it too much as it is not good for the environment and it is used only at night. The generator is used from 6:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. If you do not like air conditioning, you can use the fan inside the cabin or you can open the window.

The crews will close the window if it rains (otherwise your room will get wet). Your own western-style toilet and bathroom is separate from the crew’s. They provide towels, sheets, and blankets. Clean water from the water tank inside the boat is provided. No water from the river is used on this boat. They provide 1,200 liters of clean water, please use it carefully as you will use it also for cooking and cleaning all the kitchen equipment. They provide sealed drinking water, please be careful not to waste it. The check out time from the houseboat is at 8.00 to 09.30.

Super Deluxe BorneoEcoTour II Houseboat:

Super Deluxe BorneoEcoTour II is anew houseboat. It is 18 meters (59 feet) long, and four meters (13 feet) wide. They have two cabins named Ulin Cabin (made with Iron Wood) and Rengas Cabin (Made with Rengas Wood) with beautiful natural colors. Both cabins are big enough for two people and an extra bed. Each cabin has private bathroom, hot water heater and cool water, air conditioning, large and small towels, blankets, a table and chairs.

They also provide all clean water from two big water tanks above the open deck and in front of the boat. The water tank holds 3,600 liters. The BorneoEcoTour II does not use water from the river, please use it carefully as they use it also for cooking and cleaning all the kitchen equipment. They provide sealed drinking water, please be careful not to waste it. The air conditioning in the cabin is available for use during night time only from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Check out time from the Super Deluxe Houseboat is at 08:00 to 09:30.


Day 1: Kumai

Upon your arrival in Iskandar Airport (PKN), you will meet with your guide and then direct transfer to Kumai. Onboard, you will cross the Kumai River approximately 15 minutes to the main river Seikonyer. You will ride for about two hours to reach the National Park. Lunch will be served by the cook. At 4:30 p.m., you will continue your tour to explore Proboscis monkeys. Dinner and overnight on the boat.

Day 2: Pasalat Camp to Camp Leaky

After breakfast, proceed up the river to Pasalat Camp. Here you will be hiking up on the board walk for 800 meters and will walk on the ground for 200 meters. On this camp, you will have the chance to plant endemic fruit trees for orangutan and this is also the carbon offset program.

This program supports the national park to replanting the trees around the ex-forest fire areas and to spread up the fruit trees for the animals in this park. When the tree grows up, the trees will do photosynthesis. From this process the tree will produce the oxygen, and the oxygen is the payment to all the carbon produced in your whole life (payment of the carbon).

Return back to the houseboat then boat up directly to Camp Leakey. Lunch will be provided on board. On arrival in Camp Leakey, you will visit the information center to see all work of Dr. Birute Galdikas while she studies the orangutan here start from 1971 until today. You will stay until 2:00 p.m.

Afterwards, continue trekking up into the forest to see orangutan feeding until 4:00 p.m.. You will go back to the boat down to Pondok Ambung. If the time permits, before dinner, you will trek into the forest for two hours to see the nocturnal animals like tarsiers and tarantulas. Go back to the houseboat. Dinner and overnight in the houseboat.

Day 3: Pondok Tangguy to Tanjung Harapan Village to Tanjung Harapan Camp

After breakfast, boat down to reach Pondok Tanggui, the second rehabilitation center for the orangutans. Visit the orangutan feeding center at 9:00 a.m. Enjoy your time while taking some pictures. Then at 10:00 a.m. return back to the houseboat and continue boating down directly to Tanjung Harapan village to see the Malayan settlement activities in the afternoon.

Lunch will be provided on board before crossing to Tanjung Harapan Camp to see the last orangutan feeding at 3:00 p.m. you will stay until 4:00 p.m. You will then boat down directly to Nipa Palm area to see thousands of fireflies. Dinner and overnight in the houseboat.

Day 4: Kumai to Banjarmasin

After breakfast, boat down to Kumai then you will get transferred to Iskandar Airport (PKN) to catch your flight to Banjarmasin. On arrival in Syamsudin Noor International Airport (BDJ), you will be directly transferred to the hotel. Free time on your leisure.

Day 5: Banjarmasin to Floating Market to Berau to Derawan

At 5:30 a.m., you will be transferred directly to the Floating Market by boat. It will take about one and a half hours to get there from your hotel. Enjoy your time until 8:00 a.m. and then boat down back to the hotel. Breakfast in the hotel and direct transfer to Syamsudin Noor International Airport (BDJ) to catch up your flight direct to Berau via Balikpapan.

On arrival in Kalimarau Airport (BEJ), you will be transferred directly to Tanjung Batu. It takes about 2.5 hours by private car. On arrival in Tanjung Batu, you will be transferred directly by speed boat to Derawan island. You will check in at Sari Lodge. You will have dinner in the local restaurant. You will arrive in Derawan about 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Day 6 and 7: Derawan Island to Sangalaki to Kakaban Island

Early in the morning, you will go by speed boat to Sangalaki Island which is called the Capital of The Mantas Rays. Many kinds of exotic fish could be seen in this area like the mantas, napoleons, purple sea horses, tunitates, dwarf scorpion fishes, and not to forget the Coral Sea Garden which is still in tact.

In the night, you could explore the Turtle bay. Continue by speedboat to Kakaban Island known of it's mangrove fringed lake inside which is a bit above the sea level, the lake itself is about 17 meters deep of brackish water with a green algae bottom, sea life diverse from four types of jellyfish, snakes, orange purple and yellow clams on the branches.

The dive points around the islands as the barracuda Point has sharks, leopards fish, tunas, snappers, and of course large schools of barracudas. The Blue Cave point is a cave of about 120 meters long with at the end a Blue sea light, and is only for the experienced divers. From the dive points, the Gorganian Forest view is amazing. Go back to Derawan island.

Day 8: Derawan Island to Berau

After breakfast, start your trip cross the sea by boat to Berau for your flight to your next destination.


This safari will start from Kumai and will take you to Pondok Tangguy, Tanjung Harapan Village, Banjarmasin, Floating Market, Berau, and Derawan Island in Indonesia.
