During this wildlife tour, you will stay in a houseboat named Borneo Eco tour for two nights. On the third and fourth night, you will stay in a local house and in a hotel. Accommodation will be based on double / twin share occupancy. The houseboat's length is 16 meters and three meters wide. It has one cabin with an air-conditioning system and an open deck.

The source of the electricity is the solar panel and battery. The electricity, of course, depends on the sunlight and the use of the air-conditioner is optional. Whenever you feel the need, you could turn them on. The water is clean but not drinkable. All the water are brought in from Kumai for your shower and wash. Hot water and cool water for shower are available.


Day 1: Airport – Kumai – Proboscis Tour – Houseboat

Upon your arrival in Pangkalan Bun Airport (PKN), meet with the staff and guide then transfer to Kumai. It will take about 20 minutes. Upon your arrival in Kumai, transfer to the houseboat. Lunch will be provided on board. Afterwards, you will boat down the Kumai river which will take approximately 15 minutes to reach Seikonyer river, the main river in Tanjung Puting National Park.

Cruise up the Seikonyer river to see nice vegetation around the river bank, nipa palm, pandanus, and some kind of trees that grow around the river. See some wildlife such as birds, macaque, Proboscis monkey, and orangutan. If time permits, you will visit an orangutan feeding center in Tanjung Harapan at 3:00 p.m.

Then by 4:00 p.m., return to the boat and continue boating up to observe and learn more about Proboscis monkeys along the river banks. Proboscis monkeys, being an endemic animal, can only be seen in Borneo. Dinner and overnight will be in the deluxe or super deluxe houseboat.

Day 2: Houseboat – Pondok Tanggui – Camp Leakey – Houseboat

After breakfast, cruise up to reach Pondok Tanggui, the second rehabilitation center for the orangutan. Visit the orangutan feeding station at 9:00 a.m. and enjoy your time and take some pictures as well. Then at 10:00 a.m. return to the houseboat and continue boating up to Camp Leakey.

Camp Leakey is the highlight of the national park. You will be passing by the Black river which is full of wildlife within such as many kinds of birds, primates, fish, and also crocodiles. Lunch will be served by a cook with special various food. Upon arrival in Camp Leakey, you will visit the information center to see all the works of Dr. Birute Galdikas while she studies the orangutan from 1971 until today.

Enjoy your time until 2:00 p.m., and you will be trekking up into the forest to see orangutan feeding. Enjoy the time until 4:00 p.m. and go back to the boat to reach the nipa palm area and see a thousand fireflies. Have dinner and stay overnight in the houseboat.

Day 3: Houseboat – Kumai – Lopus Dayak Village

Early morning, have breakfast on board and transfer to Lopus Village by a private car. It will take around five hours. Lunch will be provided en route to a local restaurant. Upon your arrival in Lopus Village, you will have a sightseeing tour around the village and a free program in the afternoon.

In the evening after dinner, you will be welcomed by the Dayak Tomun with their Bagondang ceremony. You might be allowed to dance with the Dayak people while they will serve you with the rice wine. Enjoy the ceremony and go back to the longhouse / local house for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Lopus Dayak Village – Kudangan – Pangkalan Bun – Hotel

After breakfast, continue your trip by car to Kudangan Village. You will have another sightseeing tour of the village to see more of the longhouse. Afterwards, drive back to Pangkalan Bun for another five hours. Lunch will be provided in a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Pangkalan Bun, transfer to the hotel and check-in. Have your last dinner at your own cost. Stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 5: Hotel – Pangkalan Bun Airport

Have breakfast in the hotel. Today, you will be free at your own leisure before you will transfer to the airport for your next destination. This will be the end of the tour with Borneo Eco Tour.

Borneo covers a total of 746,309 square kilometers. Indonesian Borneo is known as Kalimantan, "River of Diamonds". It is occupying two-thirds of Borneo land mass. Kalimantan is divided into four provinces: East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan. There are over 30 ethnic groups living in this particular island making it an island with the highest human social group in the world.

The native inhabitants of this island is the "Dayak" who live in the interior of its island. The only great red apes are only found in Asia. They can be found in the two islands of Sumatra and Borneo. Tanjung Puting National Park is located in the Central West of Kalimantan. It is the last home for ex-captive and wild orangutans in Borneo.


The price includes full board meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the trip as it is mentioned in the program. The last dinner will be at your own cost. In many cases, water will be provided for free, however, in some areas drinking normal water would be a good idea. It is highly recommended that you bring a water bottle with an in-line filter system.

In Tanjung Puting National Park, you will be accompanied by a cook who will serve fresh food for you. Although you will have the opportunity to order food which is like what you normally eat at home, it is recommended that you try all the local specialities. After all, food is a major part of any vacation or trip, as well as a major part of any country is culture and you just may discover a few new favorites.
