Have an amazing adventure in Indonesia's floating market and the orangutans in Camp Leakey! Borneo Eco Tour's new houseboat sets up different way than normal houseboat. Borneo Eco Tour has one cabin enough for two people and has an open deck room. At night this place will be set up as your private room, the crews will setting up your bed and hung the mosquito net. This kind of room is nice for you who want to stay close to the forest and wildlife. during a day time you could see monkey or wild orangutan from the deck.
On this safari tour, you will be accommodated in a house boat. Your first night will be at Bajarmasin, your second night will be at Kumai, your third night will be at Camp Leakey, and your fourth night will be in Nipa Palm.
The deluxe cabins have queen size bed, airconditioning and a fan. The air conditioning is optional for use but try not to use it too much as it is not good for the environment and it is used only at night. The generator is used from 6:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. If you do not like air conditioning, you can use the fan inside the cabin or you can open the window.
The crews will close the window if it rains (otherwise your room will get wet). Your own western-style toilet and bathroom is separate from the crew’s. They provide towels, sheets, and blankets. Clean water from the water tank inside the boat is provided. No water from the river is used on this boat. They provide 1,200 liters of clean water, please use it carefully as you will use it also for cooking and cleaning all the kitchen equipment. They provide sealed drinking water, please be careful not to waste it. The check out time from the houseboat is at 8.00 to 09.30.
Super Deluxe BorneoEcoTour II is anew houseboat. It is 18 meters (59 feet) long, and four meters (13 feet) wide. They have two cabins named Ulin Cabin (made with Iron Wood) and Rengas Cabin (Made with Rengas Wood) with beautiful natural colors. Both cabins are big enough for two people and an extra bed. Each cabin has private bathroom, hot water heater and cool water, air conditioning, large and small towels, blankets, a table and chairs.
They also provide all clean water from two big water tanks above the open deck and in front of the boat. The water tank holds 3,600 liters. The BorneoEcoTour II does not use water from the river, please use it carefully as they use it also for cooking and cleaning all the kitchen equipment. They provide sealed drinking water, please be careful not to waste it. The air conditioning in the cabin is available for use during night time only from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Check out time from the Super Deluxe Houseboat is at 08:00 to 09:30.
Upon your arrival in Syamsudin Noor International Airport (BDJ), you will be met by your guide then you will be directly transferred to the hotel. Free time on your leisure.
Early morning at 5:30 a.m., you will picked up to visit Borneo Floating Market in Lok Baintan, boating up Martapura River by traditional boat “Kelotok”. It will take about 1.5 hours to reach the floating market area. Along the river trip you will see the local activities and several floating houses around the river bank.
On arrival in the floating market you will see the local people activities who meet in this market on their canoe. Enjoy your time until 8:00 a.m. Boating down back to the hotel for your breakfast, you will have a free time before your transfer back to the airport to catch up your flight to Pangkalan Bun for your orangutan tour.
On arrival in Iskandar Airport (PKN), you will be met by your guide then transferred to Kumai. You will cross Kumai River approximately 15 minutes to the main river Seikonyer. Then, you will have two hours to reach the National Park. Lunch will be served on board by the cook. At 4:30 p.m., time to spot and observe Proboscis monkeys around the river bank. Dinner and overnight on houseboat.
After breakfast, proceed up the river to Pasalat Camp, here you will be hiking up on the board walk for 800 meters and 200 meters you will walk on the ground. In this camp you will have chance to planting endemic fruit trees for orangutan and this is also the carbon offset program.
This program supports the national park to replanting the trees around the ex-forest fire areas and to spread up the fruit trees for the animals in this park. When the tree grows up, the trees will do photosynthesis. From this process the tree will produce the Oxygen, and the oxygen is the payment to all the carbon produced in your whole life (payment of the carbon).
Return back to the houseboat then go directly to Camp Leakey. Lunch will provide on board. On arrival in Camp Leakey, you will visit IC (Information Center) to see all work of Dr. Birute Galdikas while she studies the orangutan here start from 1971 until today.
Enjoy your time until 2:00 p.m., afterwards continue trekking up into the forest to see orangutan feeding, enjoy the time till 4:00 p.m. when you will go back to the boat to Pondok Ambung. If the time permitted before dinner, you will trekking into the forest for two hours to see the nocturnal animals like Tarsiers, tarantulas, etc. back to the houseboat. Dinner and overnight in the houseboat.
After breakfast, boat down to reach Pondok Tanggui, the second rehabilitation center for the orangutan. Visit the Orangutan feeding at 9:00 a.m., enjoy your time while take some pictures.
Then at 10:00 a.m. return back to the houseboat and continue boating down directly to Tanjung Harapan village to see the Malayan settlement activities in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided on board then cross to Tanjung Harapan Camp to see the last orangutan feeding at 3:00 p.m. you will stay until 4:00 p.m. Back to the boat and boating down directly to Nipa Palm area to see thousands of fireflies. Dinner and overnight in the houseboat.
This safari will start from Bajarmasin and will take you to Pasalat Camp, Pasalat Camp, Pondok Tangguy, Tanjung Harapan Village, Tanjung Harapan Camp, and Kumai, Indonesia.
