Big Six Tour Safaris offers this budget Kruger National Park safaris and vacation packages in South Africa for small groups. In this wildlife safari, you will enjoy game viewing in Kruger National Park, the King of South African game parks. Furthermore, you will have scenic visits to the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, God’s Window, and Pilgrim’s Rest if time permits. Answer to the call of wildlife in this safari!
You will be staying in various accommodations provided by Big Six Tour Safaris. The accommodation for the first night will be in comfortable en-suite bungalows or cottages or tents with the accommodation at either Olifants, Satara, Skukuza, Lower Sabie, or Letaba Rest Camp. For the second night, the accommodation will be at either Skukuza, Satara, Olifants, or Lower Sabie Camp.
Skukuza Rest Camp is the largest rest camp in the Kruger National Park and administrative headquarters. It is situated on the southern banks of the Sabie River. The camp is well-foliaged and there are some lofty trees along the river edge. Activities and facilities are diverse as are the animals and plants found both within the camp and in the surrounding areas
On the first day of this three-day Kruger Park safari, you will have an early departure from Johannesburg / Pretoria as you travel towards the Mpumalanga Province in the eastern side of the country and visit scenic attractions along the Panorama Route, including the Bourkes Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, and God's Window, and if time permitting, the historic gold mining town of Pilgrim's Rest.
You will descend in the afternoon to the eastern escarpment and travel via the low veld before entering the world-famous Kruger National Park. Inside the park, the excitement will mount as you start seeing some of the numerous animals that inhabit this magnificent wildlife sanctuary. The accommodation for tonight will be in comfortable en-suite bungalows or cottages or tents and dinner can be enjoyed in the camp's restaurant. The accommodation will be in Olifants, Satara, Skukuza, Lower Sabie, or Letaba Rest Camp.
You will have an early wake-up call. You may depart for your sunrise game drive (SANParks open vehicle game drive is optional). This is, most of the time, the best time to spot one of the major predators before they settle down. You can stop at one of the rest camps in the park to have breakfast. After breakfast, you will continue spotting the animals in your vehicle.
Lunch time can be at one of the rest camps. You can continue with the game drive before returning to camp to rest during the heat of the day. A sunset game drive in an open-sided vehicle (SANParks open vehicle game drive is optional) can be done to spot the nocturnal animals at night. After game drive, you will return to the rest camp to have dinner at the camp's restaurant. The accommodation will be at Skukuza, Satara, Olifants, or Lower Sabie.
After a final sunrise safari (open vehicle safari, optional) and a late breakfast, you will return back to Johannesburg / Pretoria. Your drop off will be at a hotel or guest house of your choice or the O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB).
Note: Drop-off time will be between 15:00 and 16:30, depending on location.
The Republic of South Africa occupies 1,223,410 square kilometers (472,659 square miles) at the southern-most tip of the African continent, stretching from the Limpopo River in the north to Cape Agulhas in the south. It is five times the size of Britain, twice as big as France, and about one-eighth of the size of the United States. The West Coast borders the cool South Atlantic Ocean while the Eastern Coastline runs along the warmer Indian Ocean. To the north, South Africa borders Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. In the northeast, it borders Mozambique and Swaziland.
The diverse scenery of South Africa offers a landscape for every taste. Wide open vistas, a wild and untamed coastline, cascading waterfalls, fields of exotic wildflowers, luscious forests, and majestic mountains are the scenic splendor as far as the eye can see.
South Africa offers some of the best game-viewing in the world and the attraction of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) is hard to resist. These and many other animals that are unique to Africa can be seen at any number of game parks and game reserves throughout South Africa.
Kruger National Park is the king of South African game parks and one of the best game-viewing areas in all of Africa. The figures speak for themselves: 507 bird species, 114 reptiles, 49 fishes, 34 amphibians, 147 mammals, and over 23,000 plant species have been recorded here. The region itself is enormous, extending from the crocodile river in the south to the Limpopo in the north, from the wooded foothills of the eastern escarpment to the humid plains of the low veld.
It certainly fulfills most visitors' fantasies of seeing magnificent herds of game roaming across acacia-studded stretches of savanna and, of course, it is home to the Big Five. The park is 120 kilometers wide and over 450 kilometers long, conserving 21,497 square kilometers, an area the size of Wales or Israel. Despite its size, it is very well-developed, with a good network covering 2,600 kilometers of roads and numerous camps, making a Kruger safari relatively hassle-free.
