You will spend three nights in suite rooms at the incredible Bhanwar Vilas Palace in Karauli, where the royal family still resides. For those who prefer an even more secluded setting, a five-room garden cottage set amidst a large private garden is also available. The stables, organic farms, and swimming pool are all part of the palace grounds.

Constant refurbishments and additions have been added to the comfort of guests while ensuring that character of the property and its 1930s colonial charm remains. A new air-conditioned dining hall, airy and spacious with large French windows has been constructed. All forty-five rooms are regularly upgraded with luxurious mattresses, linen, and other accouterments like electric kettles and hair dryers besides genuine period furniture.

On this safari, you will enjoy guided jeep safari in Kailadevi Wildlife Sanctuary. The jeep safari offers a rare glimpse across this undulating vastness, chequered with the green and brown hues of the local deciduous vegetation of the dhok, euphorbia, and ber. The most spectacular points of the safari are the spectacular river gorges and ravines known as khos which turn into waterfalls during the monsoon. The forest is rich in biodiversity and parts of it were maintained by the former rulers as hunting reserves or shikaargahs.

Hunting today has thankfully been replaced by the infinitely more exciting jeep safaris that let you experience this breathtaking natural loveliness at close quarters. The safari also includes a visit to small settlements and villages on the fringes of the sanctuary which give a fascinating insight into a way of life that has completely vanished in bigger towns.

Another feature of the sanctuary are the three ancient forts of Mandrail, Devgir, and Utgir. Built between the 11th and 14th centuries, the second day of the safari includes a trek to these rarely seen archaeological marvels. The safari will also include a picnic and birdwatching on Maamchari Lake.
