On arrival at the hotel, spend the day at leisure relaxing and enjoying the hotel facilities. Spend overnight at a hotel in Kitulgala's Plantation Hotel.

Day 2: Kitulgala

After breakfast, you can do bird watching and trekking in Kitulgala. Kitulgala forest reserve is the ideal rainforest habitat to spot most of the lowland endemic species of birds including the Green-bill Coucal, Chestnut-backed Owlet, Red-faced Mal koha, Sri Lanka Spot-winged Thrush, Grey Hornbill, Sri Lanka Spur fowl, Ceylon Jungle fowl and Yellow-fronted Barbet. The newly discovered Serendib Scoops Owl was also first heard in this forest. Mammal species found here include the grizzled Indian squirrel, layard’s striped squirrel and the purple-faced leaf monkey. The streams hold endemic fish and many species of amphibians. The earless lizard, kangaroo lizard, and the Hump-nosed Lizard are among the reptile species and are frequently seen in the foliage along the Kelani River. Insect repellent and anti-leech socks are useful when you are entering the forest. In the afternoon, you will be able to enjoy white water rafting tour in Kelani River.

Whitewater rafting in Kelani river does not require a higher degree of rafting skills or swimming experience. This thrilling adventure ride is suitable even for the people who are experimenting it for the first time as the rapids of Kalani River are graded with two and three. Some of the rapids are named with unique names such as Virgin’s Breast, Killer Falls, Butter Crunch and Head Chopper. Be ready to swim in the river whilst enjoying this wonderful ride along one of the most picturesque rivers in the country. Spend overnight at Plantation Hotel in Kitulgala.

Day 3: Kitulgala / Udawalawe

After breakfast, you will be driven to Udawalawe (Approximately 5 hours' drive). In the evening you will proceed to do a safari at Udawalawe National Park.

You will have a half day game drive to Udawalawe National Park, which is a 3 hours game viewing opportunity with Beyond Escapes Safari Team. This national park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir. It lies on the boundary of Sri Lanka's wet and dry zones. Udawalawe is famous for Sri Lankan elephants, which are relatively hard to see in its open habitats. Many elephants are attracted to the park because of the reservoir. Other than the elephants, the park is home to water buffalo, water monitor lizards, sambar deer, monkeys, and the occasional leopard, as well as it is an exciting location for bird enthusiasts. Spend overnight at Grand Udawalawe Resort in Udawalawe.

Day 4: Udawalawe / Yala

After breakfast, you will be driven to Yala for an exciting experience at Leopard Nest camp site (Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes' drive). En route you will have an opportunity for refreshment and photography.

You will have a half day game drive to Yala National Park which is a 3-hour game viewing opportunity with Beyond Escapes Safari Team. Yala is home to 44 varieties of mammal and 215 bird species. Among its more famous residents are the world’s biggest concentration of leopards. The leopards are more elusive and primarily nocturnal in other countries but are easier to spot in Sri Lanka than any other place in the world. Elephant, spotted deer, sambar, Hanuman langur, toque monkey, stripe-necked and ruddy mongooses, wild boar, golden jackal, land and water monitor and marsh crocodile can be seen during your safari. Beyond Escapes provide light refreshments and water bottles during the safari.

  • 13:00 Arrive at the Leopard Nest campsite and check in to one of the nests in the campsite followed by a short introduction by the camp manager on everything you need to know about the campsite.
  • 13:00-14:30 Enjoy Lunch at the main restaurant in the campsite or at one of many outdoor locations available in the campsite. After lunch, you can relax and unwind by taking a nap in the hammock or checking books about wildlife in the library.
  • 15:00 You will start your evening Safari at Yala National Park.
  • 18:30 Arrive at the campsite and enjoy your private Alfresco shower followed by drinks and appetizers around the campfire.
  • 21:00: Dinner will be served at one of many locations available through the camp. Dine under the stars for an unforgettable evening meal in the jungle experience.
  • Spend overnight at a campsite in Yala at Leopard Nest Campsite.

Day 5: Yala / Galle

Today after breakfast, you will be transferred to Galle (approximately 4 hours' drive). Along the way, you can have refreshments and photography. With the sun goes down you can do city and fort cycling tour in Galle.

Taking a cycling tour with Beyond Escapes Cycling crew is the ideal way to explore the fascinating coastal city of Galle. You will explore the UNESCO world heritage site, the Dutch Fort of Galle through this paddling tour. Cycling around the city and going through the vegetable and fruit markets will also be a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of this small city at the tip of Indian Ocean. Helmets, bicycles, first aid, refreshments and water bottles are provided during the cycling tour. Spend overnight in Galle at Unawatuna Beach Resort.
