Murchison River lodge is located on the southern bank of the River Nile, overlooking Murchison Falls National Park, pods of hippos, and papyrus islands. In beautiful surroundings, the lodge offers comfortable and relaxing mid-range accommodation to suit all budgets. Well appointed en-suite thatched cottages, thatched safari tents each with private facilities, and comfortable camping tents already set up around our shaded campsite.
If you would prefer to bring your own tent, they have covered areas for self-catering in the campsite including a fire pit and excellent shower and toilet facilities. You will be staying here on the first and second night of the safari.
The 30 fully furnished cottages comprising of 35 rooms are each privately positioned with views of the garden, they are all self-contained units. Primate Lodge Kibale’s principal edge is their location, tucked deep in the forest and right next door to the starting point for chimpanzee tracking excursion as well as the incredible chimpanzee habituation, two of the most genuinely breath-taking wildlife experiences on the planet.
All of the nine spacious and en-suite luxury cottages, each secluded deep in the forest for maximum privacy and a natural ‘living in nature’ feel, come complete with two double size bed or one king size bed, a sitting area with two comfortable arm chairs, a reading table, and an adjoining large veranda with excellent views to the forest.
The seven mid-level forest cottages are private and en-suite with spacious bathrooms, two twin size beds or one king size bed as well as a spacious veranda over-looking the rainforest with lounge chairs. The popular double storied ‘Elephant Banda’ has an upstairs bedroom fitted with a giant king size bed and a downstairs living room where you can also place a smaller extra bed.
As a double occupancy, it is very popular with honeymooners, anniversaries, and the hopeless romantics who can also enjoy private lounging and dining at the extensive upstairs veranda that seems to go right into the forest. You will be staying here from the fourth to the fifth night of the safari.

Rushaga gorilla camp is haven for trekking within the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a highlight of all visits done in Uganda and a reason why you should visit Uganda. The land is comprised of a mountain with nice vistas of the impenetrable forest front and a permanent spring where forest elephants occasionally come down for a drink from the national park. You will be staying here from the eighth to the tenth night of the safari.
Start the day as early as possible with a very good breakfast then drive out of Entebbe to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an experience with the rhinos. You will then continue to Murchison River lodge after having a wonderful dinner.
Start this day as early as possible with a beautiful morning game drive on the northern part of Murchison Falls National Park, enjoy a variety of the game, and later drive back to the lodge in time for lunch. After that, you will go on a boat safari to enjoy quite a number of water animals as you head to the bottom of the falls then hike back up to the top of the falls to have a close look at the mega double falls (Uhuru and Murchison Falls).
You will then drive back to the lodge to refresh, enjoy a quiet dinner, and spend the night there.
Have a late relaxing breakfast and drive to Hoima while stopping for scenery pictures and community visits. This day is a relaxing travelling day as you will tend to prepare for the longest journey the next day, so on this day you will have a quiet time relaxing at Kontiki hotel while swimming, reading, and taking a walk to the nearby local centers. You will then have dinner and spend the night there.
You will start your day as early as possible then drive on to Kibale National Park. Since it’s a very long journey on a Marram road, you will make some stops and get the opportunity to talk to the locals and take scenery pictures. After that, you will continue to the lunch stop and later take a tour in the local town. You will also have a stop at the massive tea estates then drive to the Kibale Primate lodge for dinner and accommodation for the night.
You will tart this day as early as possible after breakfast and walk down to the briefing center to get yourself prepared for the beautiful experience of chimpanzee tracking in the breath taking rainforest. This activity will depend on how fast you get to see the chimps then you will have an hour to spend with them.
After that, you will return to the lodge to have lunch then prepare for the afternoon swamp walk to see a variety of different monkey species, you will also get to see the local community farming activities. You will then drive back to the lodge to spend the night there.
After a soothing breakfast at the primates lodge, you will check out and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On the way, you will stop and get to see beautiful crater lakes and huge plantations of bananas (matoke) which is the stable food for most Ugandans. Later, you will make your first stop at the equator while in Uganda and continue to the park for lunch.
After that, you will go for an afternoon boat safari on the Kazinga channel to sight see the different kinds of game life in the water. After this beautiful experience, you will drive to your lodge and check in, have dinner, and spend the night at Ihamba lodge.
You will have a super early breakfast and go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi area and also visit a salt lake which is still being mined by the locals in that area. After this morning activity, you will drive back to the lodge and have lunch and relax. You will have an evening game drive then have dinner and spend the night at the Ihamba lodge.
You will have a late breakfast and then embark on the longest journey through the magnificent hilly areas of this region which the books call the Switzerland of Uganda, Kisoro, the land of many hills. You will also enjoy the stop you will make to talk to the locals who practice a unique kind of farming. Their way of farming on the hills is very fascinating to look at. Then you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park at Rushaga Gorilla camp and spend the night there.
This is the long awaited day of gorilla tracking. You will start this day with a breakfast. Since it’s a five minute drive to the briefing center, you will take your time having breakfast then continue slowly to the Gorilla briefing center.
At the center, you will be prepared for the heavy but worthwhile activity of hiking to the mountain gorillas. They will also tell you all about the do's and don’ts while with the great apes. It might take you the whole day in the forest depending on how far the gorillas will be found. After this extra ordinary activity, you will drive back to the lodge.
After such a great experience with the gorillas, you will drive to the zebra's park that is Lake Mburo National Park for another game life experience. You will leave early after breakfast then later have lunch and then continue to the lodge, stopping for some sight seeing of wildlife. You will check in at the lodge, have dinner, and prepare for a night safari which is usually exceptional.
This is the last day of this beautiful safari tour. You will start with an early morning breakfast then go for a game walk to see some zebras, impalas, and other wildlife up close. After that, you will continue with your journey. You will take a stop at the second equator crossing, this time with a water demonstration. You will then drive on to Entebbe.
