Travel into the heart of Botswana to Chobe National Park and Savuti Marsh. Visit Moremi Game Reserve and Maun. Explore the Okavango Delta and travel to Gweta Village, a baobab forest, Makgadikgadi salt pans, and Nata. You are a traveler, not a tourist. Bamba Experience wants you to be able to explore Botswana exactly as you have always dreamed it. Discover the best places that Botswana has to offer!
During the safari, Bamba Experience will provide tents with portable showers and bush toilets and a sleeping mattress in a double occupancy. Single travelers will be sharing a tent. If you wish to use a sleeping bag, there will be a sleeping bag rental service at 30 USD per person per trip to pay locally.
Please note that this is a full participation safari. You are asked to play your part in; for instance, pitching and striking camp each day. The safari operates in remote wilderness areas where facilities are few or non-existent and where the group carries in and erects (and dismantles) the camp bush toilet and bucket shower each day.
Please note that the itinerary below is subject to change at any time without prior notice due to weather conditions, safety, and based on the judgment of the guide according to park and game viewing conditions.
Depart Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe this morning and take a transfer to the nearby Botswana border where you will meet up with your professional safari guide and continue to Kasane, a short drive away. Upon arrival to Kasane, you will get settled in and make your final preparations for your afternoon game drive in Chobe National Park.
Embark on your first African safari of the trip with you camera ready to go and set off in search of different antelope and bird species, giraffe, elephants, hyenas, leopards, and if you’re lucky, lions! The Chobe National Park is perhaps one of the most important ecosystems in the country of Botswana where animals gather around the floodplains and Chobe River during the dry season, creating an impressive show of anywhere from 500 to nearly 5000 elephants.
Search along the banks of the Chobe River for crocodiles, hippos, wildebeest, buffaloes, and hundreds of bird species, a photographer’s dream! Enjoy the evening reminiscing about your exciting experience in Chobe with you new friends.
Today, you will head into the Savuti Marsh area which is accessible only by 4x4 vehicles due to the wetland nature of the area. This Savuti area was once a large inland lake and is still connected with the Savuti Channel. It attracts several different types of animals such as elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes along with predatory cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas, leopards, and lions all of which thrive in the Savuti savannah.
Embark on a genuine safari into the wild savannah with breathtaking views of the landscape and animals in the area. Camp overnight in the wild and immerse yourself deep in the heart of mother nature.
The nearby Moremi Game Reserve is a less frequently visited park than Chobe but offers excellent game viewing opportunities nonetheless. Moremi offers acacia forests and mopane woodlands, stunning lagoons, and superb floodplains that play home to a diverse variety of animals such as lion, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, elephant, leopards, and wild dogs. At nighttime, there is a good chance you might spot a honey badger or spotted hyena.
Head out early this morning for one last game drive in Moremi Game Reserve and then continue your adventure en route to the Okavango Delta traveling through the rural African countryside towards Maun. Observe rural life as you pass cattle ranches and farms along the way. Arrive in Maun, Botswana’s tourism capital on the edge of the Okavango Delta and make last minute preparations for your big adventure ahead.
Prepare for an exciting day today in the one-of-a-kind Okavango Delta, a natural inland delta formed by rivers that flow from Angola into northern Botswana, creating a wetland that covers over 1.6 million hectares of land as they spread out over the flat plains. This intricately formed floodplain is a myriad of islands, lagoons and river channels, unique on the African continent.
Take a ride in a Mokoro (dug-out man-made canoe) as you float through the maze of channels in search of wildlife like elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, hippos, and bird species. You will be accompanied by a knowledgeable poler who will help spot animals and tell you about the complex ecosystem of this beautiful area. Today, you should arrive back to Maun around 2:00 p.m. with plenty of time for those who wish to take an optional scenic overflight or helicopter ride over the delta. Enjoy dinner tonight and a relaxing evening with your group.
Today, you will travel to the famous Makgadikgadi Pans making a stop along the way in the quaint Gweta Village and then reaching the chapman’s baobabs. These trees have a circumference of more than 25 meters and look out silently over the shimmering Makgadikgadi Pans in the distance, bordering the edge of the Kalahari Desert. Camp overnight on the pans and if you wish, sleeping outside with a sleeping bag gazing up at the stars, for a true African experience.
Make an early departing this morning from the Makgadikgadi Pans en route to Kasane, admiring the beauty of the vast savannah and rural villages with smiling, friendly locals along the way. Upon arrival to the Zimbabwe border, the group will say goodbyes to the guide and then transfer to a new vehicle for the final leg of your journey to reach Victoria Falls. There, your trip will come to an end and Bamba Experience wishes you a safe and happy journey for your onward travels!
