Daily itinerary

Day 1: Lake Mburo National Park

You will wake up early on this day and get ready to be picked up from your accommodation in Kampala to begin this adventure to the beautiful Lake Mburo National Park. The first stop is at the Mpigi Drum Makers, where you will watch ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations.

The next stopover will be at the equator, where you can take photographs on both sides of the northern and southern hemispheres, pick up some souvenirs, or just stretch your legs. You will continue into the Ankole Region of Uganda and onwards to Lake Mburo National Park, arriving in the afternoon.

Next, you will take a two-hour boat ride on the lake, giving you a chance to see some of the incredible local wildlife. African fish eagles and kingfishers perch high on trees that overlook the lake, searching for their next meal.

In the water, there are also large groups of hippos and if you are lucky, you will see the crocodiles that line the shores of the lake. Overnight stay will be in a Lake Mburo eco-lodge. Lunch and dinner is included in this day.

Day 2: Lake Mburo National Park to Bwindi National Park

You will wake up for an early-morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park, with a chance to see newly-integrated giraffes, herds of zebra, buffalo, and antelope. The park also has fierce predators, namely jackals, hyenas, and leopards. For the best authentic experience of Lake Mburo National Park, you will opt to climb Kazuma Hill, which is high enough to see the five lakes and rolling hills of the pristine park. After a late breakfast, you will continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Dinner and overnight will be in a Bwindi eco-lodge. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is included in this day.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Buhoma Sector

After breakfast, you will take a short drive to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. You will then be ready for one of the highlights of this safari. There are 13-habituated gorilla groups spread across the four sectors of Bwindi. Each tourist group is made up of a maximum of ten people who go trekking to find one of the gorilla groups.

An advance group of trackers will locate the gorillas ahead of time and communicate back to your group. The communication between this advance party and your group continues until the gorillas stay in one place long enough for you to catch up and spend time with these wonderful primates in their natural habitat.

Once contact is made with a gorilla group, you will be allowed to observe these incredible creatures for one hour. This strict time limit is to ensure that they do not become too acclimatized to humans. Once the gorilla trek is over, you will return to your lodge for a well-earned rest. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is included in this day.

Day 4: Bwindi to Kampala and airport drop-off

You will have breakfast at the lodge and then head off towards Kampala. There will be a couple of places to stop off for lunch before you arrive at the Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in time for your flight back home. Breakfast is included in this day.
