Accommodation

During this safari trip, you will be staying at various lodges and camping sites. On night one, you will be staying at Eileens Tree Inn, on night two to five, you will be staying at Mbugani Tented Camp, on night six, you will be staying at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge, and on night seven, you will be staying at Eileens Tree Inn.

Eileens Tree Inn (2 nights)

The guest rooms at Eileen's Trees Inn are set in beautiful tropical gardens and you’ll find a bar, small lounge area, and dining room in a rustic wooden building reminiscent of a treehouse. There are 20 rooms en-suite single, double, triple and family room are possible on request. The rooms are spacious and comfortable privately situated throughout lush gardens. Each room has twin beds or a large (queen size) bed with mosquito nets. All rooms have a writing desk and seating on the veranda. The bathrooms have a large shower with hot water on demand. Bottled drinking water is provided in every room.

Mbugani Tented Camp (4 nights)

Enhance your safari adventure with a stay at Mbugani Camps located in Seronera, the heart of Serengeti National Park. They’re open year-round to offer prime game watching and full immersion in nature in a safe, serene, and home-like setting. You’ll enjoy amazing vistas, oversized tented suites with 24/7 water and power, professional and friendly staff, lounge area with bar service, and evenings by the campfire.

Each roomy tented suite features queen-size beds, a private bath, and oversized screened windows for taking in fresh air and scenery. The camp is powered by solar energy and a backup generator to keep essential systems running at all times.

Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge (1 night)

Ideally located on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater rim, Rhino Lodge offers a perfect base from which to explore the Ngorongoro Crater and its surroundings. With 24 comfortable en-suite rooms, a cozy living space, friendly local staff, and generous African-inspired meals, Rhino Lodge welcome guests to Africa’s most remarkable game park. There are 24 guest rooms, all with a veranda overlooking a stretch of the high mountain forest.

Each room has its own shower, toilet, and hand basin. To keep away the cold, each room has a wood-burning stove, and hot water bottles can be filled if you want one. In the bar/dining room, there are two large fires which are a natural focus where the guests like to meet and exchange stories of the day.

Program

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

At 8:30 a.m., after your breakfast, depart from Arusha to Tarangire National Park for a game drive. At 1 p.m., you will stop at the picnic site for a picnic lunch. At 2 p.m., you will continue for an evening game drive. Then, have dinner and stay overnight at Eileen’s Tree Inn. Lunch and dinner will be provided today.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park

At 8 a.m., you will transfer from Tarangire to Serengeti National Park for a game drive. At 1 p.m., you will take a break for lunch which will be served at the picnic area. At 2 p.m., you will go an afternoon game drive in the park to return in the evening for dinner and stay overnight at Mbugani Tented Camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided today.

Day 3: Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti National Park

At 6:30 a.m., you will go on an early morning game drive in the park. At 9:30 a.m., you will return to the lodge for breakfast. At 10:30 a.m., after your breakfast, you will depart with picnic lunch to Northern Serengeti. At 1 p.m., you will take a break for lunch which will be served at the picnic area. At 2 p.m., you will go on afternoon game drives in northern Serengeti Kogatende/Bologonj area following the great migration at Mara River. Then, you will have dinner and stay overnight at Mbugani Migration Tented Camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided today.

Day 4: Northern Serengeti National Park (Tracing the direction of the wildebeests)

At 6:30 a.m., you will go on an early morning game drive in the park. At 9:30 a.m., you will return to the lodge for breakfast and relax at leisure. At 1 p.m., lunch will be served at your lodge. At 2 p.m., you will go on afternoon game drives in Northern Serengeti Kogatende/Bologonj area following the great migration at Mara River. Then, you will have dinner and stay overnight at Mbugani Migration Tented Camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided today.

Day 5: Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti National Park

At 6:30 a.m., you will go on early morning game drives in the northern Serengeti area. At 9:30 a.m., you will return to the lodge for breakfast. At 10:30 a.m., after your breakfast, you will depart with picnic lunch to central Serengeti. At 1 p.m., you will take a break for lunch which will be served at the picnic area. At 2 p.m., you will go on an afternoon game drive in Central Serengeti. Then, you will have dinner and stay overnight at Mbugani Migration Tented Camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided today.

Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro/Olduvai

At 6:30 a.m., you will go on an early morning game drive in the park. At 9:30 a.m., you will return to the lodge for breakfast and relax at leisure. At 12 p.m., lunch will be served at your picnic site. At 1 p.m., you will drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is your “option” whether you want to pass by Olduvai Gorge a historical site whereby the early man lived and can also pass by the Maasai boma if you are interested in the real African life tradition and culture. You will then have dinner and stay overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided today.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu/Mto Mbu

At 7:30 a.m. after breakfast, drive and descend into the crater floor with your lunch box for game viewing. The famous Ngorongoro Crater is rich in wildlife, each species have their own territories. At 1 p.m., you will stop at the picnic site for picnic lunch, which will be served on the crater floor at the picnic site near Lerai forest or hippo pool. Then, you will have dinner and stay overnight in Eileen’s Tree Inn in Manyara. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided today.

Day 8: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

Starting from your lodge. After breakfast, transfer to Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing, lunch at your picnic site. At 2 p.m., leave from park drive back to Arusha town for your onwards arrangement. Accommodation and airport transfer will be on your account, but Backpackers Safaris can arrange them on request. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

This safari trip will take place in Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, Northern Serengeti National Park, Central Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Lake Manyara National Park.

Food

During this safari trip, your daily meals will be prepared by Backpackers Safaris. Mineral water 1.5 liters per person per day will also be provided. On your safari, you would be surprisingly provided the most qualitative food with enormous varieties. Most of the lodges here serve their food in buffet- style, hence you would have the opportunity to choose the food of your liking. The blending flavor of the local cuisine with the western taste would provide you a delicious pleasure. If you are on a camping safari, you would have fresh meat and fresh fruits which would be prepared by the expert chefs with the highest sanitary standard.

It is amazing to state that most of the guests returning to the camps only for the delicious food. Special dietary requirements such as vegetarian or diabetic meals can easily be arranged with advanced notice. If you are vegetarian or vegan you may wish to bring along some alternative protein sources. If you have multiple food allergies, you’ll definitely want to bring along supplementary snacks. It is important Backpackers Safaris know of any possible dietary restrictions as soon as possible.

Please book your flight to arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). Transfer from the airport is not included.
