You will spend your night at the Twiga Lodge and Campsite, Arusha. Twiga Lodge and Campsite is a family-owned business that started operating in 1994 originally as a campsite with family members as permanent staff and a few locals casuals.
Over two decades, the family managed to build a lodge with more than 40 rooms, improve the quality of the services to include big restaurant and bar, mini supermarket, curio shop, conference facility, and swimming pool. The services are personal, attentive, and friendly.
These are luxury bungalows with private balconies. The rooms are equipped with a comfortable four poster bed (double, twin, or triple are available on request) with a mosquito net, bathroom with shower blocks for hot and cold water, a cupboard, writing desk, one liter of mineral water daily to brush your teeth, towels, shampoo or conditioner, and wash soap.
These are spacious rooms complete with air condition, television, mini refrigerator, writing desk, cupboard, and bathroom. The standard rooms are available at a very affordable price and offer a wide range of comfort to individuals and families alike.
These rooms are airy as there is a traditional roofing system that allows ventilation and free air movement. They are equipped with bedside table, bed, fan, and bathroom with hot and cold water shower blocks.
The ground is for more than 200 campers as well as budget-tent facilities with outdoor bathrooms for those without tents.
The pool next to the tree shaded are a great chill-out zone for a bit of reading or a splash in the pool during the afternoon. The trees surrounding the pool are habitats of many bird species whose dawn choruses and are always a pleasure to wake up to.
Conference facility is located on the far right of the property. It is carefully designed to complement the gardens and it can accommodate up to 150 people and is equipped with flip charts, overhead projectors, wireless microphones, public address system, supplied on request at modest charges.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from hotel in Arusha town at 8:30 a.m. and you will drive to Tarangire National Park. You will spend the whole day exploring Tarangire, one of Tanzania’s "secret" wildlife havens teeming with large populations of elephant, predators, and their fleet-footed prey. In late evening, you will drive to Manyara (Mto wa Mbu) for dinner and overnight in Manyara.
After check out and early breakfast, you will descend to the crater floor for full day game viewing where you can expect to see a variety of birds including thousands of flamingoes and other water birds. The big game here includes the endangered black rhinos, elephant, zebras, hippos, gazelle, and predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and leopards.
You will take a break for lunch with the packed lunch at the picnic site. You will then proceed with game viewing until late evening when you will ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha town. End of tour.
The safari will take place in Lake Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.
You will be served with daily breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner during the safari.
Mto wa Mbu is a great destination for cycling either on road or off road. Twiga being at the foot of the escarpment of the rift valley, with both tarmac and ragged landscape and located in an area with all tribe villages is certainly the best destination for any cycling experience. Cycling is the greatest way to cover a huge ground through villages, up the escarpment whilst having fun and sociable time with other riders.
This constitutes walking down to lake Manyara which offers a wide range of wilderness experience ranging from soda lakes to dense woodlands to steep mountainsides. The walk, however, is guaranteed to have many beautiful interruption.
Mto wa Mbu is inhabited by Tanzanians of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds and offers a very rich experience in the Tanzanian people and culture. Village walks are an opportunity for guests to observe the local people in their daily routines and natural environment and experience the real Tanzanian.
The Hadzabe are probably the only full-time hunter and gatherer tribe in Africa that is still living off the land in the truest sense. It is definitely life changing seeing this tribe of nomadic pastoralists cohabitating quite successfully with domestic animals. If you are lucky, you may get to witness a Maasai marriage procession.
