Set on 200 acres of private land and with a rustic charm all of its own, the lodge nestles in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at almost six thousand meters, is Africa’s highest and most famous snow-capped mountain. Amboseli Sopa Lodge is set within mature wooded gardens with a wide variety of trees and plants which include thorn trees, Acacias, fragrant Frangipanis, colorful bougainvillea, and giant cacti which all thrive in these surroundings.
The gardens are also home to numerous species of birds, as well as monkeys, mongooses, squirrels, duikers, the occasional gazelle and, once in a while, even an ever-inquisitive leopard. Rustic, well-spaced cottages meander through the vast expanse of the mature gardens and house the 83 guest rooms. These are all brightly decorated with Maasai themed wall murals, and each room has been purposely built to contain either one or two queen-sized beds, as well as a veranda.
Outpost Lodge has 28 clean and comfortable rooms, all with bathrooms en-suite, satellite TV, safes, fans, mosquito nets, soap, shower gel, shampoo, kettles with coffee and tea. The rooms are a mixture of singles, doubles, twins, triples, and one quadruple. All the rooms are in a garden setting and have outdoor seating areas. The accommodation is rustic, with an emphasis on clean, comfortable, and affordable lodging, and a special ambiance of its own.

They try hard to cope with the system but are caught out occasionally. Due to this countrywide water shortage, electricity can also be erratic due to the poor hydropower stoppages. The lodge offers 75 spacious rooms housed in a circular, double-story, whitewashed fashion. Each room has its own private veranda, while the interior decor reflects the blue of the alkaline waters and the pink of its flamingos.
