This Tarangire - Serengeti - Ngorongoro safari takes you to the ultimate best of Northern Tanzania, featuring the best of Tanzania’s and most probably Africa’s best wildlife viewing options. Among the destinations to visit is the world-famous home of the great wildebeest migration, the Serengeti national park, and Ngorongoro Crater, a world heritage site. Here you have the sole chance to spot your favorite “Big Five” animals with this 4 days Tanzania safari.
During the safari, you will stay in various campsites. Tents and other camping gears are included in the package.
Today you drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park for an excellent game viewing. Tarangire is a small park which offers some excellent sights. Generally, in the dry seasons, Tarangire comes alive as wildlife and birdlife congregate on the Tarangire River, which is a permanent source of water.
You spend the night in a camp beautifully set inside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere. Dinner and overnight at Kizumba Campsite.
You head towards the Serengeti National Park. En route, enjoy game drives. There is an opportunity to visit Olduvai Gorge. It is within this steep-sided ravine that Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the world’s most important archaeological discoveries in the 1950s – pre-booking visit will be required.
After lunch, you drive into the Serengeti itself and the rest of the afternoon is spent game viewing in the vast plains that are broken only by stands of acacia trees and the occasional kopje. In December, January, and February normally you will be able to meet the migration with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle.
There are always plenty of resident animals, such as giraffe, buffalo, and elephant, and many large predators such as lion, cheetah, and leopard. Dinner and overnight at Seronera Campsite.
After breakfast, enjoy full day game drives in this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of your time. Your driver-guide will choose the best spotting locations for the time of year. The game drives from the wide-open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals and from the top, you can look out across the vast grasslands of the Serengeti.
This diverse and interesting landscape will provide an ultimate game viewing, you will hopefully see all of the plain animals such as elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lions and if you are lucky the elusive leopard and cheetah, as well as huge number of interesting birdlife, from the elegant secretary birds to the flightless ostrich. In the afternoon, continue to Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite.
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater with picnic lunch boxes and descend into the crater which is one of the most densely crowded game areas in the world, home to nearly 40,000 animals. Here, you’ll have a good chance of seeing the big five: lion, leopard, rare Black Rhino, buffalo and elephants.
Along with the big five, you will also see herds of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle, after five hours of game drive, then drive back to Arusha town. Drop off. End of services.
This safari starts from Tarangire National Park, and will take you to Serengeti National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.
The permanent water supply of the park means that during the summer, the animal population here rivals that of the Serengeti with wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo, gerenuk, fringe-eared oryx, and flocks of birds of many different species. Prime game viewing months are between September and December.
The Serengeti is one of the world’s last great wildlife refuges. This vast area of land supports the greatest remaining concentration of plain game in Africa, on a scale unparalleled anywhere else in the world. The name comes from the Maasai ‘Siringet’, meaning endless plains.
The views at the rim of Ngorongoro Crater are sensational. On the crater floor, grassland blends into swamps, lakes, rivers, woodland, and mountains, all a haven for wildlife, including the densest predator population in Africa. The crater is home to up to 25,000 large mammals, mainly grazers, gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest, and warthog.
Daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are served.
You may take an optional activity to visit Maasai cultural village for an additional cost.
