Three of Joshua's biggest passions are the African bush and wildlife, photography, and teaching. Joshua advanced his passion for photography studying through Vega and currently finishing off his level 1 FGASA (Field Guide Association of South Africa) qualification. Joshua’s experience includes media management, graphic design, fine art, photography, nature guiding, and training. Joshua’s wildlife photos have also been recognised and sold both locally & internationally.
Michael's passion for the African bushveld naturally progressed into wildlife photography and the need to showcase its beauty to others. He is qualified as a Field Guide with FGASA Level 1 accreditation in 2015 and will be pursuing Trails Guide qualification in the future. His images have been featured in Africa Geographic and Twenty20 portfolios.
My life would seem emptier without my camera, for photography allows me to immortalise important events and sightings, allowing me to re-live all those amazing experiences over and over again.” I have been taking photos ever since I can remember. I was our high school photographer when I grew up in Pretoria, photographing everything from sports events and socials to stage shows and class photos. My camera never left my side in the seven years after school when I completed my Masters Degree in Nature Conservation, focussing on leopard movement patterns and densities in Botswana’s majestic Nor
I am passionate about wildlife and have always had a dream to be involved in conservation in my own unique way. I spent 8 days with At Close Quarters this past August at Djuma Private Game Preserve. It was an awesome 8 days - everyday was something new to view and learn while with Michael, Joshua and Heinrich. I am a novice photographer and they helped me along the way to take wonderful pictures. I hated to leave at the end of my time with At Close Quarters and can see another safari with them in my future. Now with their exciting news of new places to go it will be even harder to decide which safari to take with them. They are very caring about their quests and making sure that we were always happy and our needs where taken care of for the entire stay. I follow on Facebook and always smile when they post pictures because seeing the brings back so many wonderful memories of my time with At Close Quarters. Thanks to all with At Close Quarters for an awesome experience. Velma from Michigan.
