Mihingo Lodge

Mihingo is a luxurious, family owned lodge in a magical setting adjacent to Lake Mburo national park. Perched high on a rocky kopje, whose pre-Cambrian granite boulders were formed over 500 million years ago, it has spectacular views over a vast savannah landscape. Designed to blend in with its fragile surroundings, this environmentally friendly lodge offers comfort, relaxation, and the experience of being at one with nature. Participants will stay here for one night.

Mountain of the Moons Hotel

Mountains of the Moon Hotel and Resort has become one of Fort Portal's signature hotels. The hotel sits on 15 acres of landscaped gardens with wonderful views of the Rwenzori Mountains from where the hotel takes its name. The hotel is a unique blend of oriental and French chic styles where guests instantly feel at home.

Paraa Safari Lodge

Established in 1954, Paraa Safari Lodge is in Murchison Falls National Park. The lodge is located in the north west of Uganda overlooking one of nature's best kept secrets, the River Nile, on its journey from its source at Lake Victoria to join Lake Albert, here it is suddenly channeled into a gorge only six meters wide, and cascades 43 meters below.

The earth literally trembles at Murchison Falls - one of the world's most powerful flows of natural water. Paraa Safari Lodge offers a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure. Each of the rooms is a haven of style and serenity, complete with balcony and private bathroom. Participants will stay here for two nights.

The Gorilla Resort

The Gorilla Resort is such an amazing safari camp with a magnificent sight of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. It’s suited at Buhoma along with Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla National Park beside the mountain.

The camp is enclosed with lavishness cottages in addition to the east Africa safari tents that are positioned on an eminent wooden platform providing a beautiful scenic view of the area. The wooden decks will definitely give you a perfect view of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as well as River Munyaga. Participants will stay here for two nights.

Program

Day 1 - Kampala and Lake Mburo National Park

The Uganda safari guide will pick you from your hotel and you will start your journey by road to Lake Mburo National Park. You will also have a stopover at the equator for a formative talk and souvenirs. Then, you will proceed to the park via Masaka, check in at Mihingo Lodge. Have lunch as you prepare for a game drive in the evening to explore the park and you will have a chance to witness wildlife. Dinner and overnight at luxury Mihingo Lodge.

Day 2 - Travel to Bwindi National Park

Have a morning cup of tea and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This drive is long and rewarding with the panoramic views of the green vegetation as well as the traditional homesteads. You will have lunch at Mbarara, then continue to the gorilla trekking safari park of Bwindi reaching in the evening. You will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Luxury Gorilla Forest Camp.

Day 3 - Gorilla tracking in Bwindi National Park

You will wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast as you prepare to start your journey to greater experience. By 08:00 a.m., you will report to the headquarters for a briefing by the rangers as well as registration.

The guides will then lead you to track the gorillas through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth and the thick creepers. When the gorillas are sighted, the visitors will be guided to within six meters of them and you will have a chance to sit around these great apes for a whole hour looking into their big eyes. These big giants are also powerful and can sometimes weigh over 250 kilograms.

The visitors are required a reasonable degree of fitness as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes, since the trek can take from half an hour to six hours depending on the movement of these lovely primates. You will have your packed lunch after the trek. After trekking you will go for Batwa Trail, you will be welcomed by the sound of their music. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Forest Camp.

Day 4 - Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park for wildlife safari

This morning after a cup of tea, you will go at Munyanga River trail, in the valley of below Buhoma (park office), where you will have an ideal short walk to view birds and primates along the forest edge. After the trail, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the wildlife trip and game viewing safari.

The journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park will take through the unique and attractive southern sector of the park, known as Ishasha, and the famous rear tree climbing lions which cannot be seen in other parks of Uganda. Before you reach the lodge, you may see wildlife antelopes, buffalo, warthogs, and elephants. Dinner and overnight at luxury Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 5 - Game tour and boat trip on Kazinga Channel

Early in the morning after taking breakfast, you will proceed to the park for a game drive in search for the early risers. You will have an opportunity to view many animals including buffalos, elephants, lions, and other more wildlife before retiring to your lodge for lunch. Boat trip along the Kazinga Channel will be the highlight of your afternoon tour.

The Kazinga channel offers a good spot for birders with a variety of bird species. Animals to see include school of hippos, buffalos, warthogs, and elephants. In the evening, you can take a night game drive. Dinner and overnight at luxury Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 6 - Primate safari and Kibale National Park in Fort Portal

After your morning cup of tea, you will then head to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee trekking. This journey to trek the chimps will take you through the green and grass covered area where you will reach the deep chimpanzee gorge, surrounded by tropical rain forest. This morning, chimpanzee trek will lead you into the gorge of River Kyambura in search of their closest relatives, the chimpanzee primates.

The hiking offers you a rewarding African adventure safari, other activities include butterfly watching and birding safari. After the chimpanzee trekking, you will say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth National Park and head to luxurious Mountains of the Moon via Fort Portal.

Day 7 - Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and visit the top of the falls

You will transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with your packed lunch. This will include touring at the magnificent top the falls to see how the calm Nile is transformed into a thunderous roar of white foam fall, about 50 meters deep. Proceed to your lodge as you see animals grazing dinner and overnight stay at luxury Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 8 - Game drive and boat ride on Victoria Nile

You will enjoy the early morning coffee at Paraa safari Lodge and you will also enjoy a game viewing session and a boat trip along the Nile in the afternoon. After these activities, you will hike at the top of the falls. Dinner and overnight Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 9 - Drive back to Kampala

Early in the morning, you will proceed to Kaniyo Pabidi Forest where you will enjoy chimpanzee trekking before travelling back to Kampala. Then drive to Kampala with a stopover for your lunch reaching Kampala in the afternoon. End of safari.
