Program

Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Kibale National park for the Bigodi nature walk

The tour starts after breakfast with you being driven to Kibale National Park but as you approach Kibale forest, watch monkeys on verandas hunt for what to eat or play with each other. Be taken for a guided forest walk to Bigodi which lasts 4-5 hours of walking down swamp boardwalks, villages, and forest pathways.

Engage in activities like bird watching since it's home to 200 bird species including the crested crane and elusive Great Blue Turaco, butterfly viewing, and wildlife/primates tracking. Other animals found in the wetland include mongooses, wild pigs, Bush Bucks, Sitatunga antelopes, and otters can be seen around the swamp.

You will need to have sturdy walking shoes for this walk. After your great experience in Bigodi swamp, you will be driven back to your booked accommodation, but upon request, since some locals in the community have turned their local huts into perfect homesteads for international visitors interested in experiencing life in an African village, AA Safaris can book for you a night there at an affordable price.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tour

The chimpanzee trekking activity of the safari starts in the early morning after having breakfast. It starts with an 8 a.m. briefing with park rangers before heading out in groups of 6 guests accompanied by 2 rangers and can run the whole day depending on when you get tired of watching these primates.

Wear sturdy shoes and layers, including rain gear. Tuck your pants into your boots to hinder the safari ants and wear gardening gloves to avoid stinging nettles. Later you will be driven back to Kampala which marks the end of your 2-day chimpanzee safari in Uganda.
