On this tour it is possible to explore the forest in a non-conventional way as you will spend two nights camping in the forest. This is a five-day jungle tour with two nights spent at the lodge and two nights out camping in the jungle.

You will be accommodated at the Amazon Boto Lodge located on the south of Manaus 100 kilometers away from the city in the middle of the Amazon rainforest at the Juma Reserve Area. The lodge offers a unique structure for eco-tourists.

The lodge has nine private apartments, five of which are private bungalows and connected by walkways. All bungalows (rooms) are equipped with beds, private bathroom, and air-conditioning. The system of energy supply is through its own power generator and is used from 6:00 to 10:30 p.m.

Come and enjoy the Amazon by staying in a wonderful spot in the heart of the Amazon rainforest and exploring the place through their guided tours and experienced and friendly staffs.

Program

Day 1: Paraná do Mamori River

The transfer is at 8 a.m. from the hotel to the Ceasa Port where a speed boat is used to take visitors to the meeting of the waters, the point where the Negro River and the Solimões River meet. From there you are taken to the Careiro Village on the other side of the Solimões River. From there the journey continues by car or by van for about an hour to the Paraná do Mamori River. From there another speed-boat takes the group to the lodge arriving there at about 11:30 a.m.

Lunch is served at 12:30 p.m. and the afternoon activity starts at 2:30 p.m. There will be a canoe trip to watch dolphins, birds, and finally the sunset at about 6:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 7 p.m. and then at about 8:30 p.m., cayman spotting is done on board the motorized canoe. The guide literally snatches a cayman out of the water. After giving a thorough explanation about the reptile it is returned to its habitat.

Day 2: Amazon jungle walk

At 5:30 a.m. a canoe trip is done to watch the sunrise and to get a close up view of the forest waking up to a new day. At 7 a.m. breakfast is served and then at 8 a.m. a jungle walk starts and it goes up to 11:30 a.m. During the walk, the guide explains valuable information about the forest. Much is learned about medicinal plants, spiders, trees and there is even a chance of seeing monkeys.

The afternoon activity starts at 3 p.m. It is canoeing in the flooded forest and in the small channels. It is a great opportunity to see and learn about the flora and fauna of this fantastic Amazon jungle.

Day 3: Visit to a local family

From 8 to 11 a.m., the group goes to visit a local family to see and learn their simple and fantastic way of living in the forest. After lunch at 3 p.m. the group leaves to spend two nights camping in the forest. A great chance to learn about the nocturnal life in forest.

Day 4 and 5: Jungle survival lesson then back to Manaus

While in the forest, the guide teaches survival techniques and gives information about any other thing related to the forest. You will have more chance for trekking and for canoeing (paddling). On the last night of camping, the group will do a night trekking for one or two hours and it is required that everyone has good equipment such as boots, long pants, and flashlights.

On the last day, the group returns to the lodge around 11 a.m. After lunch at 1:30 p.m., the group leaves the lodge back to Manaus arriving there at about 4:30 p.m.

Location

Starting and ending at Manaus, this tour will take you through Ceasa Port, Careiro Village, Paraná do Mamori River, and inside the Amazon jungle, Juma Reserve Area.

South of Manaus - Juma Reserve Area

The lodge is located on the banks of the Boto stream in an area rich in fauna and flora, excellent for practicing eco-tourism. The tranquility and silence of the lodge is broken only by the songs of the birds existing in the area.

At the lodge they develop eco-tourism activities such as trekking, camping in the forest, alligator spotting, canoeing (paddling) through the igarapés and igapós of the region, birds and dolphin watching, and visits to local families (riverside people - caboclos).

Food

The little restaurant offers a varied menu of regional dishes. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with coffee or tea and some snacks between meals. All meals are included in the package with mineral water. It is more convenient because there are no food stores or restaurants in the immediate vicinity. To reach the lodge four different transport is used, being two cars and two boats totaling a journey of approximately three hours. The transfer to the lodge begins at 8 a.m. from the hotel arriving at around 11 a.m. at the Amazon Boto Lodge.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
