Accommodation

This wildlife tour will provide you with five nights accommodation. On the first night, you will stay at Eretzen Ta Lodge. On the following nights, you will camp out within the national park.

Eretzen Ta Lodge

This lodge is located 141 kilometers away from Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport, in the proximity of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, the largest protected area of flooded forest in the Amazon Rainforest, away from the traditional tourist corridors.

Because of its proximity, the lodge offers a wonderful opportunity to visit the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve where you can experience the tranquil surroundings of this natural beauty and discover the diverse and unique flora and fauna that grow abundantly in this place.

Program

Day 1: Iquitos to Nauta

Pick up from the airport or hotel. At 7:30 a.m., you will travel from Iquitos to Nauta by car for one and a half hours. You will get on the boat at 10:00 and navigate upstream through the Marañon River where you will be able to have your first impressions of the Amazon, observing the beautiful landscape.

After two hours, you will arrive at Chiriyacu Lake. In this beautiful place, you will be able to watch pink and gray dolphins, herons, and other birds. You can also swim in the lake, especially during the flooded season only.

At 1:00 p.m., you will continue your trip to the lodge. You will arrive at the lodge at 3:30 p.m. At that time, you will be accommodated in your respective rooms, take a shower, and relax. You can also walk around the land plot and watch a variety of beautiful birds. Lunch will be served at 4:30 p.m., canoeing activity is at 5:30, and dinner will be served at 8:00.

After dinner, you will visit the village of San Regis to experience a traditional night in the villages of the Amazon rainforest. Activities on the first day will end at 9:30 p.m. and then you can enjoy the sounds of the jungle from your comfortable bed.

Day 2: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

Breakfast will be served at 8:00 in the morning. At 10:00 a.m., you will take a boat to navigate for one hour until you reach the surveillance post number 1 (PV1) of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve at Santo Domingo in the Yanayacu Pucate River, where you will proceed with the respective control and registration with the reserve rangers.

After you fulfill the formalities, you will navigate for 20 minutes until you arrive in the community 20 de Enero. In this community, you will be able to see the Aguaje process being held by the community to export this Amazonian fruit in a sustainable way.

At 1:00 p.m., you will continue navigating until you arrive at a lake where you will be able to watch dolphins and birds as herons, egrets, hoatzins, and horned screamers. Lunch will be served at the lake. After the activities in the lake, you will navigate to Japan Creek. On the way to this place, you will look for sloths and monkeys. You will watch dolphins at Japan creek, where you can swim near the dolphins.

After this activity, you will look for a place to set up the camping site to stay overnight. When it gets dark, you will look for alligators. At your return, you will have a light meal and accommodate to stay overnight. Activities for the second day will end at 9:30 p.m.

Day 3: Renaco Lake

Morning activity will start at 6:00 a.m. and breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m. At 9:00, you will navigate for one and a half hours until you arrive at the Renaco Lake. On the way to this place, you will see a variety of birds, dolphins, and sloths. At 1:00 p.m., you will begin to prepare your lunch and the camping site to stay overnight.

At 4:00 p.m., you will have a hike through the jungle to observe the surrounding nature. When it gets dark, you will look for alligators. At your return, you will prepare a light meal and accommodate to stay overnight. Activities on the third day will end at 9:30 p.m.

Day 4: Community of Yarina

The morning activity will start at 6:00 and breakfast will be served at 8:00. At 9:00, you will navigate for one and a half hours before you arrive at the community of Yarina. On the way to this place, you will see a variety of birds, dolphins, and sloths. At 1:00 p.m., you will begin to prepare your lunch and the camping site to stay overnight.

At 4:00 p.m., you will have a hike through the jungle to observe the surrounding nature. When it gets dark, you will look for alligators. At your return, you will prepare a light meal and accommodation to stay overnight. Activities on the fourth-day will end at 9:30 p.m.

Day 5: Jungle hike

The morning activity will start at 6:00 and breakfast will be served at 8:00. At 9:00, you will begin to return to the lodge. In your way back, you will look for monkeys and sloths in the surrounding jungle. You will arrive to your lodge around 1:00 p.m. and after a relaxing shower, you will proceed to have lunch. After lunch, you will have a hike in the surrounding jungle. The jungle hike takes around two hours.

On this day, you will also have a canoeing activity. Dinner will be served at 8:00 in the evening. Activities on the fifth day will end at 9:30 p.m.

Day 6: Departure

Breakfast is served at 8:00 a.m. At 9:00, you will go out to visit the canopy walkways or suspended bridges. You will be back at the lodge at 12:00 p.m. and after a relaxing shower, you will proceed to have lunch. After lunch, you will return to Nauta to take the transport to return to Iquitos. And that would be the end of this tour.

Included excursions

There will be canoeing activities on the first and fifth day of the tour and hiking activities on the third and fourth day of the tour.
