The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (PSNR) was created on February 25, 1972, in order to conserve the ecosystems and biodiversity of the lower jungle of the Peruvian Amazon. Some of the representative species that this reserve protects are black caiman (Melanosuchus niger), river wolves (Pteronura brasiliensis), paiche (Arapaima gigas), taricaya (Podocnemis unifilis) and jaguars (Panthera onca). In this national reserve, there are numerous communities, both native and traditional. Its territory offers the possibility of carrying out first class tourism while exploring the Amazon.
