Come see amazing animals of the Amazonian jungle with Amazon Eco Tours & Lodge. They will take you to many spots where you can see fabulous exotic birds, monkeys hopping from one branch to another, sloth resting on the trees, the river dolphins, and a lot more. In addition, you will also get the chance to observe the floras that grow in the jungle and get to know more about them. Indulge your adventure heart here and get unforgettable memories in the wild!
Amazon Eco Tours & Lodge has been built on high terrain (it never flows). They are a native-style built lodge (wooden structure and palm leaves roof). The rooms are doubles but there are also triple and even quadruple rooms. All of them have private bathrooms with shower. Rooms and public areas are screen-protected against insect and intruding wildlife.
You will be transferred to the river wharf from where the trip to the lodge begins. You will sail on the Amazon, the world’s greatest river, onboard comfortable and safe boats. During the trip, you will be able to see a marvelous panorama in which the magnificence of the Amazon makes its way through the exuberance of the jungle, where picturesque villages with their particular color and joy appear on the shores of the river. But on the way, you will make a stop to look for dolphins where Nanay River flows into the Amazon River.
You will then continue navigating to the eco-lodge, arriving in the Amazon Eco Tours & Lodge (35 kilometers northeast from Iquitos). The native-style built lodge is surrounded by trees, plants, and flowers, a true tropical garden where birds and butterflies are abundant. While your expert naturalist guide explains about the lodge facilities and the activities to come, you will wait for room assignment according to your reservation. After lunch, you will get ready for more activities and later enjoy a sunset on the Amazon (depending on the weather) followed by dinner. After that, you will enjoy a night excursion of jungle walk, looking for tarantulas, reptiles, amphibious, etc.
You will have an early morning bird watching. Morning early hours (between 05:00 and 06:00) is the most appropriate time to observe many of the bird species that feed on the river banks or in the local produce plantations nearby. Your guide will advise you regarding the exact time of this activity. After breakfast, you will proceed with an ethnobotanical walk on a trail where you will be able to identify some species of the plant kingdom (cat’s claw, sour cane, copaiba, aguaje, and even ayahuasca, the hallucinogen vine). Besides that, you will also be able to observe species of fauna from this Amazon jungle.
You will then have lunch and then continue for a visit to a rescue center, a sanctuary of Amazonian animals where you will be able to see the famous anaconda, boa constrictor, matamata prehistoric turtle, alligators, some species of monkeys such as the spider monkey, the wooly monkey, capuchin monkey, some species of sloth, and species of exotic birds such as toucan, macaws, etc. In the other hand, you will be able to have the chance to appreciate some varieties of medicinal plants already made in the local mode (cat's claw, chuchuasi bark, oje sap, dragon's blood, etc.) all these with great medicinal properties, and making a cheer with some of the exotic drinks to close the visit in there. You will return to the lodge afterward and enjoy dinner with tales and legends from the rich Amazon myths told by the guides after.
After breakfast, you will visit the Trapiche, an artisanal sugar cane squeezer where you will prove the cane juice and see how local people get the derivatives and how it produces locally. Later you will have lunch and then sail down the Amazon to reach the town of Barrio Florido, a small coastal community located on the banks of the Amazon River that is engaged in fishing and agriculture. From this point, you will take a short walk of five minutes to reach the ranch and Pedrito where you will see alligators, aquatic plants (victoria regia) and the largest freshwater fish (paiche). After enjoying a nice day navigating on the Amazon, you will return back to Iquitos city and be transferred to your hotel.
Note: The tour will start at 09:30 on the first day and return after lunch on the last day.
You will be served three lunches, two breakfasts, and two dinners. Hot water for tea, coffee, milk, and purified water are also available. When you arrive, you will be welcomed in the main house or Maloca where the restaurant is, and you will be able to enjoy the regional dishes. Besides, it also counts with its bar that can provide some exotic drinks, local beer, regular soda, etc.
Amazon Eco Tours & Lodge offers menus in which meals from the region have been incorporated. The meals are made with fish filet, golden fish, or maid; chicken, beef, or vegetarian diet. Showing the Amazonian culinary art, they have their heart of palm salad (chonta), a cocona sauce, a delicious golden stew or grilled maid, fish wrapped in foil (patarashca) with white rice, beans, plantains or sancochados, and fresh fruits for desserts.
