Program

Day 1: Arrival and pick up from the airport

On your arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be warmly welcomed by the manager and the professional guide who will pick you up and transfer you to Boma Hotel for relaxation and overnight stay. They will give you a brief introduction to this Uganda and Rwanda safari.

Day 2: Birding experience

In the full mood of this Uganda and Rwanda safari, you will start your second day with breakfast and get ready for your journey to Mabamba Swamp for a birding experience to see several bird species such as the rare shoe-bill. To reach Mabamba Swamp, you will board a boat / canoe with a professional birding guide in search of the rare shoe-bill, which is seen most times standing in the mashes, waiting to fly into the air above the papyrus plants.

While searching for this incredible shoe-bill, you should expect to see other several bird species such as the African jacana, purple heron, and white winged terns, red-billed fire-finch, long toes lapwing, African marsh harrier, African fish eagle, and others. After this experience, you will be taken to Fairway Hotel in Kampala for a night stay.

Day 3; Road transfer to Murchison via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

You will start your third day with breakfast and get ready to set off for your 5 hours journey to Murchison Falls National Park. You will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking and then have lunch at one of the hotels near the sanctuary. You will then continue with your journey to Murchison. On your arrival, you will check in at Chobe Safari Lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 4: Hiking to the top of the falls and boat trip experience

You will start your day with breakfast as usual and get ready to go and hike to the top of the falls. It's worldly known that Murchison Falls is the strongest and most powerful waterfalls in the world. You will be amazed by how the water escapes a narrow gap, gashing out and flowing towards the Nile River. From here, you will return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation and then go for an evening boat trip to see animals such as hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and others. You will then return to your lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 5: Game drive and transfer to Queen Elizabeth

You will have breakfast first and then go for a game drive in the park in the delta area to see animals such as lions, elephants, antelopes, giraffes, leopards, and others. From here, you will return to your lodge for lunch and refreshments and then get ready to start on your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On your arrival, you will check in at Enganzi Game Lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 6: Game drive and boat trip

Your 6th day will begin with breakfast and then go for a game drive in the park to see animals such as elephants, lions, antelopes, giraffes, buffaloes, and others. You will later return to your lodge for lunch and then go for a boat trip in the afternoon to catch sight of the animals when they are on the shores drinking water. You will be able to see hippos in large numbers plus crocodiles and buffaloes in hundreds of numbers. From here, you will return to your lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Ishasha sector and tracking the tree climbing lions

This day is mainly for tree climbing lion tracking. After having breakfast, you will start on your journey to the Ishasha sector to track the tree climbing lions with lunch and night stay at Ishasha Jungle Lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

This day will start with breakfast and then get ready to set off to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is known for inhabiting over 52% of the rare mountain gorillas with about 8 families of these unique creatures. On your arrival at Bwindi, you will check in at Buhoma Haven Lodge for lunch and rest of the day relaxation and you will track the gorillas as the epic of your Uganda and Rwanda safari from Buhoma sector.

Day 9; Gorilla tracking experience

You will start your day with a morning breakfast and get ready to be transferred to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing from the UWA staff. A guide will then lead you into the jungle to see the shy primates of the booked group. Please don’t forget to pack your lunch boxes before leaving your lodge as you will be having your lunch from the jungle. Gorilla trekking is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth and this experience lasts from 2 to 6 hours. After tracking the gorillas from a closer range in their habitats with the help of the guide, you will be brought back to your lodge for afternoon relaxation.

Day 10: Road transfer from Bwindi to Volcanoes

You will have breakfast and then get ready to embark on your journey to Volcanoes National Park. The journey will be enjoyable as you will pass through the forest, exploring it and seeing animals such as monkeys and several bird species. On your arrival at Volcanoes, you will check in at Five Volcanoes for lunch and rest of the day relaxation.

Day 11: Gorilla tracking and cultural experience

You will start your day with an early breakfast at 6 a.m. so that you are ready to be transferred to the park headquarters at 6:30 a.m. for gorilla trekking briefing. This is the second epic of this Uganda and Rwanda safari. You will then head into the park under the guidance of a guide and two scouts so that you are able to track the amazing gorillas from a closer range in their habitats. You will have the opportunity of discovering the 10 families of gorillas that live within this park. This beautiful experience can last from 2 to 6 hours but it is definitely worth it. After the trekking experience, you will head back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation and then go for a cultural tour in the evening as part of your best of Uganda and Rwanda safari experience.

Day 11: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Akagera National Park

You will begin your day with breakfast as usual and then go to the park headquarters for golden monkey trekking briefing. Under the guide of a ranger, you will walk into the forest to track the golden monkey when they are still resting in their habitats. After this beautiful experience, you will return to your lodge for an early lunch and then start on your journey to Akagera. On your arrival, you will check in at Akagera Game Lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 12: Game drive and boat trip

You will begin the day with breakfast and head to the park for a game drive to see animals such as leopards, giraffes, lions, impalas, and many others. After the game drive, you will return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation and then go for a boat trip in the late afternoon to see aquatic animals and bird species on the water shores. You will then return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 13: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

This day is mainly for the journey from Akagera to Nyungwe. The journey which takes more than 7 hours is indeed tiring but worth it. The day will start with breakfast and have an en route lunch. On your arrival at Nyungwe, you will check in at Nyungwe Nziza Eco Lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 14; Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

You will wake up as early as possible so that you are transferred to the park headquarters by 5 a.m. for briefing. You will then walk into the forest to track the chimpanzees when they are still sleeping in their natural habitats. This experience can last from 2 to 3 hours. You will then return to your lodge to catch up on your sleep and lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for canopy walk from where you will be able to view animals from the trial above the forest. From here, you will return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 15: Road transfer to Kigali and city tour

This day is for your road transfer from Nyungwe to Kigali which takes about 5 hours and on your arrival in Kigali, you will first have lunch and then go for a city tour in Kigali. You are reaching the end of this Uganda and Rwanda safari. In the evening, you will check in at Grand Legacy Hotel for dinner and night stay.

Day 16: Transfer to Kigali Airport

The 16th day which is also the last day of the safari will begin with breakfast and then get ready to be transferred to Kigali International airport for your international flight depending on the time of your flight. In case your flight is in the late afternoon, you can first drive around Kigali city and have lunch before being taken to the airport and if the flight is in the morning, then you will be transferred to the airport as early as possible and this marks the end of the best of Uganda and Rwanda safari.
