From the moment you arrive in Kathmandu, you discover its colorful cultural history, evident in the sheer number of temples and festivals. You will complete your tour to the cultural heritage sites of the Kathmandu Valley which is illustrated by seven groups of monuments and buildings which display the full range of historic and artistic achievements for which the Kathmandu Valley is world famous.

You will stay on your first two nights in Kathmandu, your third night will be in Bhaktapur, your fourth and fifth nights will be in Pokhara, your sixth night will be in Lumbini, your seventh and eighth nights will be in Chitwan National Park, and your last will be in Kathmandu.

Program

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300 meters / 4265 feet)

Once you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport, a representative from The Alpine Club of Himalaya will welcome you and assist you to your accommodation, once you check in to the hotel the rest of the day is free to explore this historic and vibrant city.

Day 2: Sightseeing around Kathmandu (1300 meters / 4265 feet)

Today you’ll have sightseeing in this historic and vibrant city of Kathmandu, the “city of glory.”

First head to Kathmandu Durbar Square, the epicenter of religious and cultural life, an area filled with old temples and historical significance Palaces with old glorious architecture. Some of the sights include Kal Bhairav, Hanuman Dhoka, Taleju Temple, Kasthamandap, and Kumari Ghar; home to the Living Goddess.

Afterward visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, one of the oldest Buddhist stupas in the world which is majestically set high on a hill overlooking Kathmandu Valley, and witness a panoramic view of the valley and mountain range to the north. Next proceed towards Pashupatinath Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This massive temple complex sits alongside the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Only Hindus are allowed to enter the courtyard of the temple, whereas tourists can see the temple from the eastern side of the Bagmati River.

Later visit Boudhanath, a Buddhist Stupa said to be one of the largest in the world. This massive structure stands tall with four pairs of eyes each facing the four cardinal directions, watching for the righteous behavior of mankind and human prosperity.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Bandipur

Today after breakfast you’ll be heading to the bustling settlement of Bandipur, also regarded as a living museum of Newari culture, with its glorious 18th-century architecture and medieval ambiance, all of Bandipur is a sight where you’ll go on short hikes to villages, temples, viewpoints, and mysterious caves.

Head on the zig-zag roads of Prithvi highway traveling through the lush woodlands of the central hill. Once you reach Bandipur and check in your hotel head out to explore the settlement.

Day 4: Bandipur to Pokhara (884 meters / 2900 feet)

Wake up early and witness majestic morning views of a sea of clouds surrounding the area and snowy white peaks soaring high above. After morning breakfast in Bandipur, the tour moves ahead with a scenic drive through beautiful hills covered with colorful dotted settlements along the banks of the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers. Once you reach the city of lakes, stroll around the city.

Day 5: Sightseeing around Pokhara

The city of Pokhara has various tourist attractions, wake up early at dawn and hike up to Sarangkot viewpoint to witness nature’s ethereal lightshow as the sun rises over the Annapurna range turning its peaks from white to gold. After breakfast head towards the deep narrow gorge of the roaring Seti River from where head to Devi’s Falls and further to Gupteswar Cave and the Bat Cave. In the evening stroll around Phewa lake.

Day 6: Pokhara to Lumbini

Today from Pokhara you’ll head towards Lumbini the birthplace of Buddha, one of the holiest places in the world and a pilgrimage center for people following Buddhism. The spiritual heart of Lumbini is the Maya Devi Temple and Bodhi tree under which Buddha was born, other sights are Ashoka Pillar, Buddhist Monasteries, World Peace Pagoda, and Lumbini Crane Sanctuary and the complex has various Monasteries resembling various countries around the world. Explore the area and learn about the history, culture, and traditions of Buddhism.

Day 7: Lumbini to Chitwan

On your arrival at Sauraha Bus Stand, Tadi, or Bharatpur Airport(Surcharge) our staff will receive you. You will then be transferred to our Lodge where you will be offered refreshment & be given a briefing on our lodge and its facilities. After being given your programs for the day, your room will then be allocated to you.

  • 13.00: Lunch.
  • 15.00: Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus. Visit to the National Park Visitor’s center where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife & Sun set view from the bank of Rapti River.
  • 19.00: Tharu cultural dance presentation (which you will also participate in) by the local villagers or Slide show presentation on almost everything under the Chitwan.
  • 20.00: Dinner.

Day 8: Chitwan Activities

  • 06.00: Wake-up call.
  • 06.30: Breakfast.
  • 07.00: Canoe ride along the Rapti River. An excellent opportunity for Bird Watching and for seeing the 2 rare species of crocodiles; the Marsh Mugger and the fish-eating Gharial. Enjoy a jungle walk. On the way back, one can enjoy the elephant bathing view.
  • 13.00: Lunch
  • 15.00: Head on a Jeep Safari, which provides an excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, rhinoceros, wild boar, monkey, leopard, sloth bear, and the Royal Bengal Tiger (If you are lucky). You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Chitwan their home.
  • 20.00: Dinner

Day 9: Drive to Nagarkot (2175 meters / 7136 feet)

Starting early in the morning you’ll drive back to Kathmandu and onwards another one and half hour scenic drive to Nagarkot village at an elevation of 2175 meters set on a ridge, just 32km from Kathmandu, with one of the broadest possible views of the Himalaya. Once you reach Nagarkot relax at your hotel basking in the views of endless hills and mountain ranges.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu and Airport drop

Wake up early and witness the majestic sunrise and the clear early morning views of the mountain ranges. A panorama from Dhaulagiri in the west to Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga in the east, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Shisha Pangma, Dorje Lakpa and Gauri Shanker.

Later drive back to Kathmandu and you’ll be dropped at the airport three hours before your flight time.

Location

This safari will start from Kathmandu and will take you to Chitwan National Park, Nepal. The Chitwan National Park has Sal forests that cover 70% of the area and there are about 600 species of plants and 450 species of birds. Nepal is also home to the only significant number of one-horned rhinos and other endangered species like the Bengal Tiger, the gangetic dolphins, and the gharial crocodiles.

There are altogether over 43 species of large mammals, 526 species of birds, 150 different types of butterflies, 126 species of fish and 49 species of reptiles in this wonderful Park. From Chitwan we drive to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha that carries special importance for both Buddhists and Hindus and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
