From July to September, the Mara welcomes the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in Kenya. During the wildebeest migration, you will witness how the constant battle for survival makes the Migration Season. The Mara River crossing activity is considered the climax of the migration period. The sheer sight of the first herds of animals rushing into the crocodile infested river will make you long for this wildebeest migration every year.
You will be staying in various accommodations in Masai Mara, Nakuru, and Naivasha for this safari.
Pick up from your hotel and be transferred to our office to meet the group members and depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve. You will travel via the view-point of the Great Rift Valley and Narok town for lunch and refueling. After lunch leave Narok and drive to the reserve arriving at the camp, Check in and relax for a few minutes. Proceed for an afternoon game drive, tracking various animal species and birds with your driver/guide. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
After breakfast proceed on a full day of game viewing within the reserve. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills. The reserve is the best park for game in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network which allows for close range viewing and photography. Break for your picnic lunch at the hippo pool, looking out for hippos and crocodile. Continue with game drive till 17:00, time for visit to the Maasai village which is optional. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast, depart the Mara region for Nakuru, lunch enroute, with scenic views of Mt. Longmont, Lake Naivasha, and Lake Elementaita from afar on the main highway. You will arrive in Nakuru town in the evening. Dinner and overnight are at a budget hotel.
After breakfast you will proceed on a game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, known for its prolific bird-life including flamingos. The park contains a sanctuary for the conservation of the white rhino while species like Cape Buffalo and Waterbuck can be seen near the shoreline–enjoy a hot lunch and drive to Naivasha–you have an option to take a boat ride in this fresh water lake to go and see hippos and fish eagles at extra cost. Dinner and overnight at a budget hotel.
After breakfast have a nature walk in the Hell’s Gate National Park. You may hire bicycles to cycle in this only. There are over 100 species of birds in the park, including vultures, Verreaux's Eagles, Augur Buzzard, and Swifts. African Buffalo, Zebra, Eland, Hartebeest, Thomson's Gazelle, and Baboons are also common. The park is also home to Klipspringer Antelope and Chanler's Mountain Reedbuck–enjoy hot or picnic lunches and later drive back to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. Drop back to Nairobi hotel.
