All Gorilla Trips will pick you up from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala to Entebbe International Airport (EBB) to catch up with a scheduled flight to Kidepo Valley National Park. Flight time is at 12:30 arriving at 14:45. The park is a completely different world of vast plains, in spring view from every vantage point, with a lot of wildlife as you drive into the park.
Kidepo offers breathtaking open savanna which is surrounded by spectacular mountain landscape nowhere to be seen in Africa. Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s second biggest national park, one of Africa’s finest wilderness areas. In the evening, you will take a sunset game drive in the Narus Valley in search for the lions, Jackson hartebeests, buffaloes, giraffes, leopard, and cheetah. Dinner and overnight are at Apoka Safari Lodge.
After an early breakfast, the drive off for the game drive to the ostrich farm. Along the way, you will be able to view herds of elephants, cape buffalos, giraffes, lions, and then go to the hot springs at Kanangorok. Lunch is at Apoka Safari Lodge. In the afternoon, you will have a cultural experience that will bring you into contact with Karamojong peoples at Karenga and Kapedo. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, the grinding stones, and many more interesting items. Dinner and overnight are at Apoka Safari Lodge.
After an early breakfast, you will be joined by an expert ranger guide for a nature walk to explore the park on foot away from the steel clad of safari car sharing. His knowledge of the eco-system will bring you closure to the animals and for birders, look out for fox kestrel, eastern chanting goshawk, grasshopper buzzard, montague’s harrier, fan tailed raven, and the very rare stone partridge. The afternoon will be spent relaxing and sightseeing around the lodge. Overnight stay is at Apoka Safari Lodge.
You will have a morning game drive before your departure to Entebbe. Then, you will be transferred to the airstrip to catch up the return flight back to Entebbe.
This safari will take you to Kidepo Valley National Park, Karamoja remote Uganda area. It is one of the most beautiful savanna national parks in North Eastern Uganda. It’s characterized by savanna, riverine Borusus forest on the seasonal Kidepo Valley, flood plains, bushes, scrubland, and the short Parkland savanna. There are forests on the mountain ranges of Morungole and Lonyili.
The park is drained by the seasonal Narus River in the west and the Kidepo River in the North East into the the Nile system in the Sudan. The landscape varies from flat plains in Narus Valley to the high Morungole ranges in the east, giving a variety of habitats and associated wildlife species. Wildlife include lions, leopards, elephant, child giraffes, buffaloes, hairlebeests, oribis, reedbucks, the bat eared forex, elephants, and the lesser and greater kudus and cheetahs.
There is a lot of bird life, including the lilac 7 abssynia rollers blacksmith plovers, spawinged plovers, the ground hornbills, the kori bustard, the secretary bird, the mountain buzzards, herons, eggrets, and the lovely ostrich. The extreme northern part of the park lies the Kananarok hot spring. It’s a park worth visiting.
