Lions and leopards are easily seen. You will enjoy a late afternoon game drive in the park. Take your dinner and stay overnight at Serengeti Wild Camp.

Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater is a large volcanic caldera which hosts an advanced ecosystem perfect for the inhabitation and preservation of a wide variety of animals, from the king of the jungle, the lion, to the horned beast, the rhino. The crater, which has a land area size of around 8,288 square kilometers, was originally established as a National Park in 1959.

In 1979, the park received the title of a World Heritage Site, ensuring that the uniqueness of the Ngorongoro remains protected and preserved. The Ngorongoro Crater is an amazing place to visit and enjoy a vast landscape from heights that stretch widely. The bottom of the crater or the crater floor is actually the remains of a collapsed volcanic caldera.

The walls surrounding the crater floor are around 2,000 feet high and serve as the perfect way to preserve the wildlife inside. Some of the wildlife you can expect to see at the Ngorongoro Crater include the Big five, consisting of rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard. You can also see hyenas as they hang around the large watering hole, planning an attack on an unsuspecting flamingo.

The crater also serves as a great location for bird spotters with many different types inhabiting the park, namely the kori bustard and the black kite which exist in larger populations than at other parks within the North of Tanzania. Not only the wildlife and scenery attract the many tourists to the crater each year, as equally interesting are the fossils that have been found in Olduvai Gorge which remains one of the most vital prehistoric landmarks, with archaeologists estimating some fossilized remains of hominid species to be over three million years old.

If you are planning a Tanzania safari of the Northern circuit, then this park is a must-add to your itinerary. The Ngorongoro Crater is preferable to the most famous park in the world, the Serengeti.

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park, Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, is a world heritage site having been recently proclaimed the seventh worldwide wonder. It is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelle.

"Karatu is beautiful place to visit! We only visited for a very short time (just two days), but our hosts organized a biking trip around the lake Manyara for us. Everything went smooth and the guide was full of information and happy to answer our questions. We managed to see pelicans, flamingos, storks, and also impalas, zebra, and buffaloes. Agama Tours and Safaris were very helpful and flexible - ready to adjust to our preference. Very good experience! "

"This past summer, we had the pleasure of taking a camera safari in Tanzania with Agama Tours and Safaris. To say it was perfect would be an understatement. The care with which Agama handled our trip was spot on. The food was great and the hotels as well. Our driver and guide, Peter, was super knowledgeable about the country, parks, native people, and wildlife. Also, he knew exactly where to find many of the animals. Peter took a personal interest in making sure that everyone was comfortable. When we will ever go on another safari or similar trip, it will be with non other than Agama. Thanks so very much!"

"Just came back from an amazing trip in Serengeti and Ngorongoro with Agama Tours. Me and three other friends went for a four day, three-night safari in the wilderness of Tanzania. Went with them after a recommendation from a friend. So happy we did. Although we tried different companies quotes, Agama's was the most attractive and professional. Had an absolutely wonderful time with our fabulous guide Felisi picked us up on time at our hotel and off we went Loved every minute of the trip. Felicia great humor, knowledge about all nature and wildlife and professionalism made us very comfortable. The tented Wild Camps in Serengeti and Ngorongoro were very nice and luxurious to be at! Great food and cool views. Big thanks to Lara and Kabalo for organizing this wonderful trip for us."

"After searching on the internet and comparing 'almost a million' tour operators in Tanzania, we decided to book our safari with Agama Tours because it was a bit cheaper than the others. This was a really good choice! We booked the 10-day budget safari and culture tour and had a very good time. Our guide, Emmanuel was great! He has so much experience, knows where to find the animals, nice sense of humor. The cook, Isa, who came with us was a real professional. The food was very fresh and very good. "

"My husband and I were traveling to Tanzania and wanted to do a safari. There were dozens of choices online and I struggled to choose one. I made a choice to go with Agama Tours and Safaris and I am so glad we did. Our driver and guide, Emmanuel was wonderful. He picked us up on time at our hotel (he was even early) and took care of us extremely well for the six days. We had booked a budget safari and were expecting to camp for all five nights - we were pleasantly surprised that we had a night in a hotel in Karatu. Emmanuel is a very experienced guide and knew all the places to go in the Serengeti to find the animals. We saw rhinos, lions, and elephants from very close up. Our cook , Costa, prepared excellent and filling meals for us. We felt like we had a very authentic experience - no pressure, no tourist traps. I did a different safari in 2007 and had a much different experience (much less positive) some do have a point of reference."
