AA Lodge Mara is located at the world famous Maasai Mara National Reserve in the southwestern part of Kenya. The lodge is spread on 30 acres of land, uniquely laid out over the sprawling grounds that include rolling manicured greens, a virtual mini forest of indigenous shrubs and exotic trees, and a large swimming pool overlooking the lodge bonfire, the main restaurant, and a bar.
The lodge has 42 classic tents, 36 cottages, the main restaurant, a bar, and several dining options. The entire camp is surrounded by a 24-hour electric fence and highly trained security personnel.
Once you arrive at the airport, you will be met by African Paradise Safaris representative. After you have completed immigration formalities, your guide will transfer you to the city hotel. Upon arrival in the hotel, you will check in and go to the room for relaxation. The overnight will be at Sarova Stanley hotel.
After breakfast, you will depart to Mount Kenya. Mount Kenya is the second-highest mountain in Africa with the tropical rain forest weather. Its neighbor, Aberdare National Park, is where Queen Elizabeth was declared as queen.
In the area, there are endless falls, varieties of animals, and birdlife. Your lunch will be at Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp and the afternoon game drive will be at the sweetwater conservancy. In the park, you will be able to see white rhinos and chimpanzees, but not big animals. The dinner and overnight will be at Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club.
After having breakfast at the lodge, you will drive toward Lake Bogoria Spa Resort. You will arrive in time for lunch at the resort. You will have an afternoon game drive and a chance to boil eggs at the hot spring and geysers lake.
The park has abundant wildlife and birdlife, not forgetting about the scenic landscape. You will swim in the hot water swimming pool emitted by a hot spring. The dinner and overnight will be at Lake Bogoria Spa Resort.
After having breakfast at your lodge, you will check out and drive through the cool Rift Valley environment towards Nakuru. You will drive through the park and arrive at your lodge / camp in time for check in and lunch. The afternoon game drive will be at Lake Nakuru National Park.
Lake Nakuru is a small park with over 50% of its area covered by the lake. Located in the middle of the Rift valley, Lake Nakuru has a wide variety of animals which includes the Rothschild giraffes, lions, white and black rhinos as well as the leopard. All these animals can be spotted depending on your luck.
The park is also considered by birdwatchers as an ornithological paradise. A myriad of both greater and lesser flamingoes has made this lake their home. The dinner and overnight will be at Flamingo Hill Tented Camp.
After having breakfast at the lodge, you will head southward and turn right at Mai Mahiu to ascend up to the top of the Mau Escarpment. Then, you will head south and travel towards Narok, the gateway to Maasai Mara and district headquarters of this part of Maasai land. You will drive to reach your camp for check in and lunch.
The afternoon game drive will be in the reserve. You will have an exploratory drive around the 1,792 square-kilometer game park with its low hills and savannah type rolling grasslands, gallery forest on the Mara River, and its tributaries. Get introduced to the herbivores; elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and the variety of antelopes, the Maasai giraffes, and the Burchell zebras.
Additionally, the carnivores available are the black-maned lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Also to be seen are the largest bird, the Maasai ostriches, the secretarybirds, the crested cranes, and saddle-bill storks. Crocodiles and hippos share the river. You will return to your lodge by sunset. The dinner and overnight at AA Lodge Mara.
On these days, you can have an optional balloon ride across the Maasai Mara. After the breakfast at the lodge, you will then enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. Maasai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. Games abound here and the Mara is noted for its abundance of lions – particularly the superb black-maned males.
You are also likely to see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as (if you're lucky) leopards, cheetahs, and rhinos. All of the Big Five are residents. You're sure to see the African buffalos. You should get the cameras ready, stock up on films / tapes, and enjoy yourselves. The dinner and overnight at AA Lodge Mara.
After having breakfast, you will depart to Nairobi with packed lunch. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the airport for your home flight.
Your safari trip will take place in Kenya. You will visit the sweetwater conservancy in Mount Kenya area, Lake Bogoria National Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Maasai Mara National Reserve for your game drives.
You will be served daily meals on a full-board basis as stated in the itinerary.
