Tanzania Safari

This is combination of three national parks in southern side of Tanzania. This safari will give you the opportunity of visiting both the largest and second largest national parks in Tanzania. Nyerere National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania which shares the eco-system with Mikumi National Park, and bordering together at the northern side. While Ruaha National Park is the second largest national park in Tanzania followed by Serengeti National Park.

2 nights in Mikumi Bastian Camp (day 1 and 4)

Mikumi Bastian Camp is midrange accommodation located outside the park. one of the facilities include swimming pool, WiFi and fire place

1 night in Arc Hotel located in Morogoro Town

The Arc Hotel is a modern international level hotel located in the Nane Nane area, Morogoro, Tanzania. The hotel is conveniently close to the main road to Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, or Zambia. Enjoy luxurious accommodation and modern amenities at the hotel.

2 nights in Ruaha Tourist Banda (day 2 and 3)

Ruaha Tourist Banda is standard accommodation located inside the park. Some wild animals like giraffe, hippo, elephants, zebra, and many more are frequently walking around the area.

2 nights in Mloka Safari Lodge (day 6 and 7)

Mloka Safari Lodge is located outside the park a few kms from the park.

Program

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park

Pick up from the airport, ferry, or hotel and drive to Mikumi National Park which is approximately 5 to 6 hours’ drive. You will have a short stop in Morogoro for hot lunch. After lunch, proceed to Mikumi National Park for afternoon game drive. Enjoy late afternoon game drive with sunset view at hippo pool and see the animal’s coming to drink.

  • Accommodation: Camp Bastian Mikumi (mid-range lodge located just outside Mikumi National Park)
  • Meals plan: Lunch and dinner

Day 2: Mikumi to Ruaha National Park

After breakfast start the journey to Ruaha National Park with stopover in Iringa Town for hot lunch.

Arrive for afternoon game drives in the park looking for hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, reedbuck, and buffalo venturing to the river’s edge to drink, attracting the attention of the lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog, and jackal. There are many birds in the park including Eurasia migrants that come to visit the park twice a year.

Day 3: Full day game drive in Ruaha National Park

Wake up for early morning game drive which will take about two hours then drive back to the cottage for breakfast. After breakfast you will proceed with a full day game drive to explore the beauty of the park, with its rocky, kopjes, and ancient baobab trees. Late evening, you will drive back to the bandas for dinner and overnight.

A fine network of game viewing roads follow the Great Ruaha River and its seasonal tributaries, where during the dry season; impala, waterbuck, and other antelopes risk their life for a sip of life sustaining water. And the risk is considerable not only from the pride of 10-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetah that stalk the open grassland.

Day 4: Early morning game drive then Mikumi National Park

Wake up at 6 a.m. for early morning game drive. Enjoy the sunrise in the park. Continue with game drive until 9 a.m. then drive back to the cottage for breakfast. After breakfast you will drive to Mikumi Bastian Camp with game drive en-route to the exit gate. Arrive late evening for dinner and overnight.

  • Meals plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 5: Full day game drive in Mikumi National Park then drive to Morogoro Town

Wake up for early breakfast in the camp. After breakfast you will go for full day game drive in Mikumi National Park with option of parked lunch boxes or hot lunch in one of the lodge inside the park. After a long day game drive, at 3 p.m. you will start driving to Morogoro for dinner and overnight.

Animals commonly found in this park include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, elephants, and many more. Wild dogs can come and go in this park. See the open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this park.

Day 6: Morogoro to Nyerere National Park for afternoon boat safari

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Nyerere National Park. The journey is the most amazing and you will see the truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania. The drive will take you up into the hills across rivers and pass through small local villages and farms. The drive is tiring but possibly the most rewarding on the southern circuit.

Arrive in Nyerere National Park for afternoon boat safari along the mighty Great Rufiji River starting from 4 p.m. until sunset. The boat safari brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile, and fantastic bird life. The crocodile glides into the water as your boat approaches and the hippo appears in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam.

Day 7: Full day game drive in Nyerere National Park

Wake up for early breakfast then you will go out for game drive. Today you will have full day game drive in Selous Game Reserve for an exploration of the reserve by 4x4 vehicle. This will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of the vast park. You will continue with the game drive until sunset.

  • Meals plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 8: Walking safari in the wild then drive to Dar es Salaam

Wake up early in the morning and have a cup of coffee or tea, then go out for wilderness walking safari with guidance of an armed ranger which will take two to two and a half hours.

Walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for African wild. You will get the chance to touch the nature, see the different foot print and droppings of different wild animals and small creatures that you can’t see them during the game drive. After walking safari you will go back to the camp / lodge for breakfast then pack your stuff and start drive back to Dar es Salaam with lunch pack. Drop off at your hotel or airport for your next destination.
