Your time on this safari will be split between the Zambezi Queen Luxury Houseboat where you will spend days floating along the Chobe River and the rest of the time will be spent at the exciting eco-lodge called Elephant’s Eye in Hwange.
You will stay in Zambezi Queen, a luxury houseboat on the Zambezi River with air conditioned rooms, private balconies, great cuisine, fishing, game boat cruises, and a host of other activities.
Elephant’s Eye, Hwange, located on a private concession bordering the Hwange National Park, is the new eco-lodge from African Luxury Hideaways. This eco-lodge is situated 13 kilometers from the entrance of Hwange National Park on a private concession of 6000 acres. The lodge is a truly eco-style lodge offering a unique barefoot luxury experience, comprising of 8 tented chalets all with double / twin beds surrounded by mosquito netting.
Elephant's Eye, Hwange can host a maximum of 16 people at any given time and all meals and most drinks are included. Travelers can enjoy the beautiful setting looking onto a waterhole which is frequented by elephants and other game. All chalets are waterhole facing and there will be a guide on site to walk clients to and from communal areas and chalets.
On arrival at Kasane Airport (BBK), you will be greeted and transferred to Chobe Marina Lodge where you will embark on your boat transfer. This transfer will take you to the Kasane immigration office, Namibia immigration office, and thereafter, you will board the spectacular Zambezi Queen houseboat. This afternoon, you will start your game viewing experience with an afternoon sail on the river.
After breakfast, you will have the option of participating in one of the following activities: water based game viewing on a tender boat, fishing, or a local village tour in Namibia. Lunch will be served on board the Zambezi Queen and you will have the afternoon to enjoy the facilities on board the Zambezi Queen or participate in water-based game viewing or fishing.
This morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred by boat to the Namibian and Kasane immigration offices and back to Chobe Marina Lodge. A road transfer will meet you at Chobe Marina Lodge and take you to Elephant’s Eye, Hwange which is situated 13 kilometers from the main camp of Hwange National Park. The afternoon is at your leisure. You can enjoy the swimming pool and have sundowners on the viewing deck.
Today will be spent on a game drive in the Hwange National Park, the largest national park in Zimbabwe, covering an area of approximately 14,650 square kilometers. There are over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded here. Specifically, the elephant population in Hwange is considered world famous, as it is one of the largest in the world.
This morning, you will participate in a walking safari on a private concession led by a professional guide. Here, you will learn some interesting details about the fauna and flora. You may have the opportunity to experience a close encounter with an elephant in the bush. After lunch and a siesta, you will be able to visit a traditional homestead where the locals will welcome you into their home and you will experience their lifestyle.
At dawn, you will embark on a game drive to continue your search for the magnificent African wildlife in this area. Later this afternoon, you will visit the Painted Dog Conservation Centre where you will learn about the history of the painted dogs as well as what the conservation center does for these animals.
Enjoy your last breakfast at the lodge before your 2 and a half hour drive back to Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) where you embark on your onward journey.
This safari will take place on Chobe River and Hwange National Park. Named after a local chief, Hwange is situated in the northwest corner of the country about one hour south of the Victoria Falls. Because of its close proximity to the Victoria Falls, Hwange boasts an incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna, as well as a plethora of African wildlife.
On this safari, you will be served daily meals and various drinks such as limited house wines, beers, and soft drinks.
