Night 1: You will stay at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge after exploring Lake Nakuru National Park.

Located on a range of hills that form the western limits of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, the lodge offers spectacular views over the vastness of Africa. The lodge also overlooks Lake Nakuru and its surrounding National Park, one that is a paradise for bird watchers and wildlife lovers alike. Lake Nakuru National Park is mainly a wooded and bushy grassland with a wide ecological diversity and characteristic habitats that range from the lake waters to the escarpment and ridges.

Nights 2 and 3: You will stay at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge while experiencing the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, the Maasai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. The lodge has 50 guest cottages divided into two wings on either side of the main public areas. Each of these houses has two spacious guest rooms with queen and king-size beds, mosquito nets, electronic safes, dressing tables, en-suite bathrooms, and sheltered verandas that all have views over the gardens and the game reserve beyond.

Program

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading towards Lake Nakuru National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley, stopping at a viewpoint to admire the breathtaking escarpment.

Arriving at Lake Nakuru by mid-morning, embark on a game drive, searching for white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and tree-climbing lions. The lake is also home to thousands of flamingos and pelicans, creating a stunning pink spectacle.

After the game drive, check into your lodge or camp and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, you have another chance to explore the park or relax at your accommodation. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara

After an early breakfast, check out and drive towards the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, passing through the scenic Loita Plains and Maasai villages. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch.

In the afternoon, head out for your first thrilling game drive in the vast Maasai Mara plains, home to the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino). The open savannah allows for excellent wildlife viewing, and you might spot cheetahs, giraffes, and large herds of wildebeest and zebras.

Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Full-Day Maasai Mara Safari

Wake up early for a full-day game drive in Maasai Mara, exploring different parts of the reserve. With a packed lunch, venture deep into the park for the best wildlife sightings.

The Mara River, famous for its dramatic Great Migration crossings (July – October), is a must-visit spot. Watch out for crocodiles, hippos, and riverine birdlife. Throughout the day, you may encounter prides of lions, herds of elephants, and cheetahs hunting on the plains.

In the evening, you can choose to visit a Maasai village (optional, at an extra cost) to learn about their unique culture and traditions. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
