Treetops Lodge (1 night)

Located in the Aberdare National Park, the Treetops Lodge Nyeri tree-house lodge on stilts is famous as the place where Queen Elizabeth II visited as a princess and left as queen. Originally built in 1932, Treetops Lodge lies in the path of an ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdare Ranges and Mt Kenya National park, and is strategically sited right in front of a natural watering hole and salt lick, making it the perfect place to view the game.

Treetops is as much a part of nature as it has an ancient tree growing right through the hotel, with the lodge being built around it. It is the perfect fusion of nature and comfort sporting a rustic look that fits right into the Aberdares. The lodge has 32 standard rooms and three suites which make it one of the best accommodation lodges Nyeri has to offer. It also has a family room for guests who would like to spend some time watching television.

Lake Nakuru Lodge (1 night)

Olmoran Tented Camp (2 nights)

Set within the Masai Mara National Reserve, this casual rural, all-inclusive lodge is 4 km from the C12 highway and 16 km from Serengeti National Park. Simple, safari-style tents feature sitting areas, private bathrooms and porches. There are no TVs. Included meals and afternoon tea are served in a laid-back buffet restaurant. There's also a bar. Wildlife tours and nature hikes are offered.

Program

Day 1: Nairobi - Treetops Aberdares

Pick up in the morning at 8 a.m. and drive to the Mount Kenya region, arriving in time for lunch. Lunch at the base hotel. Afternoon transfer up to the tree lodge in their special vehicles. Afternoon game viewing from the lodge. Dinner and overnight game viewing from the tree lodge.

Day 2: Treetops - Samburu

Breakfast at the tree lodge. Morning transfer back down to the base hotel and drive via the equator to Samburu National Reserve, arriving by lunchtime. Lunch at the luxury camp. A restful afternoon and game viewing. Dinner and overnight at the luxury camp.

Day 3: Samburu full time

A full day of game viewing drives in this dry semi-arid park with its striking background view of the Mathew's Range. The gently flowing Uaso Nyiro River which traverses this park and provides evergreen vegetation for the rare gerenuk, gravy zebra and reticulated giraffe among other animals. All meals included. Overnight at the luxury camp.

Day 4: Samburu - Lake Nakuru

Breakfast at the luxury camp. Leave Samburu with a morning game and drive via Thompson’s Falls to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving by lunchtime. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon game drive will enable viewing of flamingos (greater and lesser) and other water birds including a variety of terrestrial birds. There are a lot of mammals, 56 different species including white rhinos, waterbuck, etc.

  • Viewpoints: Lion hill, Baboon cliff and Out of Africa Hills, Honeymoon, Lion hill ridge, etc.

Dinner and overnight at lodge or camp.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara

Breakfast at the lodge. Morning drive through the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. The famous Masai Mara is named after a Masai name, which translates to "the spotted plains." Lunch at the Ole Moran tented camp. After resting for about 30 minutes, proceed for an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 6: Masai Mara full time

Spend the day in Masai Mara, Kenya's most popular game reserve where you will have the best opportunity of spotting the big five - lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant. Game drives are flexible, with the option of going out with picnic lunch boxes to spend an entire day in the park or having early morning and late afternoon game drives. You will also have the option of visiting a local Masai village (at the cost of 20 USD per person). All meals and overnight in the camp.

Day 7: Masai Mara - Back to Nairobi

Early morning breakfast at your camp, check out of the camp and drive to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch. Lunch at Carnivore. Afterward, drop off at your respective hotel. There's an option of extending your game drive and then leaving later with packed lunch arriving in Nairobi later evening (ideal for travelers with late-night flights).

The safari starts from Nairobi, proceeding to Aberdare National Park, Samburu National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Maasai Mara National Reserve before returning to Nairobi.
