Cape Town is home to one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature and one of the most widely recognised mountains in the world. Flat as a table on top, and often with a tablecloth of cloud, it remains one of the most exquisite views to behold at the southern end of Africa. You’ll have 12 magnificent days to explore, starting off with the bustling and sophisticated city of Cape Town, nestled between mountains, beaches and Winelands, admire the sunset at Fish River Canyon, journey over the Namib Desert with its splendid red dunes, go on safari in Etosha National Park to finish in Windhoek. Camping under the African sky whilst being transported in our air-conditioned Adventure Overland Safari Vehicle (fitted with 20 luxury, reclining seats) ensuring that you have an unforgettable camping experience. With time to explore on your own and optional activities including hikes and skydiving, you will soak up the beauty and diversity of Southern Africa.
Predominantly camping, with standard hotel accommodation at your start and end locations of each tour and depending on the itinerary, some nights in between. Tents are 2.5m x 2.5m dome tents with mesh windows and doors which acts as a mosquito net. Most rooms in Southern Africa don’t have mosquito nets, as it is not needed.

All meals (breakfast included) will be prepared by your Adventure Crew and served at the vehicle. All accommodation is shared between (same gender) members of the tour group unless you booked with partner/friend/family member or a single supplement. For the camping nights - tents are 2.5m x 2.5m dome tents with mesh windows and doors which acts as a mosquito net. 2 Travellers per tent – Africa4us will supply all camping equipment including a sleeping bag.
Please note: All tour related matters i.e. meals and briefings will take place at the vehicle in the campsite and are compulsory to attend. Attending these campsite activities to and from your room would be at your own accord.

Explore the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town during the day and meet your group and your Tour Leader in the evening at 18:00 to get acquainted and review your trip details. Cape Town offers an unbelievable variety of experiences, tastes and sightseeing. Try a variety of exotic tastes, like some of the delicious Cape Malay curries, the famous local dish Bobotie, or the freshest seafood at one of the exquisite seafood restaurants. Make sure to arrive a day early to go to the world-famous Robben Island where former President Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison, visit Cape Point or go with a cable car up Table Mountain to enjoy a panoramic view of Cape Town from the top.
Today you leave behind the delights of Cape Town and depart on the first leg of your journey. The first overnight stop will be on a small vineyard farm in the vicinity of the Cederberg Mountains. Grapes are produced for the local cellars and you have an opportunity to taste and buy some of the local wines in an optional wine tasting activity.
Travel through the Northern Cape’s vast fields of wild flowers (in bloom between August and November) to the Namibian border. End the day with spectacular sunset views over the Gariep River.
Enjoy a slow morning and sleep in or go on an optional canoe trip down the river. Later during the morning, you will travel to the Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa. Explore the canyon rim on a short hike as the sun slips over the horizon to end your day of exploration.
Today is an early departure and a long drive north to the Namib Desert. On the way to Sesriem, you pass the small towns of Bethanie and Helmeringhausen and farm settlements, but other than that it will mostly just be the wide-open Namibian landscape with spectacular scenery. Arriving in the late afternoon, you will visit the Sesriem Canyon. Admire the lofty red sand dunes in the distance that form a gateway into the Namib Desert, which means "vast place."
An early departure allows you to experience a beautiful desert sunrise over the dunes. Climb the majestic Dune 45 before continuing to the entrance of Sossusvlei, a seemingly endless expanse of sand dunes. Driving through the breathtakingly- beautiful landscape you experience the meaning of the name Namib – open space. See how narrow gorges lead up to high plateaus or end abruptly in steep rock faces as you proceed toward your campsite in the region known as the Naukluft.
Today, you will travel to the coastal town of Swakopmund. There will be several photo-stop opportunities along the way as you cross the Tropic of Capricorn and drive through the surreal landscapes of the Kuiseb and Gaub passes.
Swakopmund’s variety of attractions and activities cater for all tastes and styles. Take a walk along the beach and dip your toes in the icy Atlantic Ocean or visit the Kristal Gallery which boasts the largest Quartz Crystal Cluster on display in the world, weighing in at 14,100 kilogrammes. Browse the many excellent bookshops and curio shops and spoil yourself with a unique gift from the area. If adrenalin and the outdoors thrills you, you can enjoy optional activities like quad biking, sand boarding, 4x4 safaris, skydiving (weather permitting) and more.
You will travel northeast to Brandberg which is home to Königstein, at 2,573 meters above sea level the highest peak in Namibia. At Brandberg, Africa4Us offer a variety of guided self-drive tours with our Polaris Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV). Enabling you to enjoy the spectacular scenery and wildlife of the Brandberg area as well as experience the thrill of driving one of these customized vehicles. Tours are led by professional local guides and backup includes satellite phone communications and vehicle tracking.
Africa4Us suggests booking the four-hour White Lady Ultimate Adventure – a self-drive of fun and adventure. On this trip, you visit the famous White Lady Bushmen Painting. Around the lodge area, there is a great chance of seeing the famous desert elephant, sometimes casually wandering into the lodge premises.
Travel through the vast expanse of Northern Namibia to the Etosha National Park, one of Southern Africa’s most loved wildlife sanctuaries. Head out for a game drive in search of elephant, antelope and lion around various watering holes. Etosha is home to more than 100 species of mammals including the endangered black rhino. It is a birdwatcher’s paradise with species such as the famous Kori Bustard, ostrich, several vultures, and eagle species and after heavy rains, you might even find water birds such as flamingos and pelicans.
Enjoy a full day’s game drive in your air-conditioned Adventure Overland Safari Vehicle. Gather memories of unique sightings that you will not likely experience again. Watch how ghostly grey-white elephants bathe themselves in the white dust of the area or zoom in on the magnificent sight of giraffes etched against a wide and open horizon. Fall asleep with the haunting calls of hyena or a lion’s roar in the distance.
Travel to Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. Arrive in Windhoek, after lunch. This will be our last goodbye, and the end of another incredible tour. Please ensure that your departure flight is booked for after 8PM.
Book an additional day or two in Windhoek to make the most of your stay. One of the most famous is the display of 33 meteorites, the Gibeon Meteorites in the Post Street Mall. Take pictures of and touch these extra-terrestrial bodies that are corrosive resistant due to the high amount of nickel the bodies contain. Shopping opportunities abound and for the historically inclined there are many museums and historical buildings within walking distance in the town centre. One of the most widely photographed and a historical landmark is the Christ Church, a Lutheran church, built in the Gothic revival style.

You will travel to several different locations across Namibia and South Africa in this safari, from Windhoek to Etosha National Park, Kamanjab, Brandberg, Swakopmund, Boesman’s Camp, Sesriem, Fish River Canyon, Gariep River, Trawal, and Cape Town. Windhoek is one of the smallest and cleanest capital cities in the world where you can treat yourself to the famous locally-brewed beer, the Windhoek Lager.

With our mission to tread lightly, we have installed water purifying systems in our vehicles to offer our travellers the opportunity to refill their water bottles and we actively discourage our travellers from purchasing water or other drinks in single-use plastic bottles.
The system consists of a sediment, granular carbon and carbon block filter as pre - treatment and then an Ultra-Filtration membrane which filters down to 0.2 microns to remove bacteria and parasites. The water then flows through an inline carbon polishing filter before flowing to the tap. See pictures in the photo section.
Cape Town International Airport
Please book your flight to arrive at Cape Town International Airport (CPT). On arrival in the beautiful Cape Town, you will make your way to the joining hotel. As an added service to our travellers, your arrival airport transfer is included. Walk out of the international arrivals area and look for a transfer person holding Africa4us signage and your name. Ask him/her what hotel he/she will be taking you to (do not volunteer this information). Then present your passport for proof of identity.
The tour departs in the morning of day 2. A brief departure meeting will be held in the hotel reception area in evening on day 1 of your tour at 6 p.m. Upon arrival, the reception will provide information from your Tour Leader regarding the meeting place and time.
As a precondition, we require your arrival flight details no later than four weeks prior to the start date of your tour. Please make sure that you receive your travel voucher confirming the transfer. The transfer in non-refundable if not used. if you have not met our representative within 30 minutes of clearing customs and immigration, please call the 24-hour emergency number which will be communicated to you.
