Program

Day 1: Nairobi / Nakuru

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, where you will be received by a Travel Waves Safaris representative. Depending on the time of your arrival, you shall either be taken to your hotel or you shall start your safari with a drive to the Lake Nakuru National Park.

Check in at the lodge in time for lunch, followed by a late afternoon game drive, with the possibility of walking along the shores of the lake. The park is truly remarkable due to the mix of wildlife as well as the mix of different habitat types. Nakuru is popular for its flamingo concentration, while wildlife such as buffalos, rhinos, giraffes, and lions are also present. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Nakuru / Ol Pejeta

Have an early breakfast at the lodge while soaking in the sights and sounds of the park, which will be followed by a game drive before the exit from the park. You will then head for the Ol-Pejeta Conservancy, located in between Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare ranges, enjoying a drive through the Kenyan countryside. Arrive at Ol Pejeta and check in for lunch at the lodge. Head out for a game drive within the conservancy in the afternoon.

Ol Pejeta has made its name as a conservancy by having one of the highest densities of animals outside the Mara National Reserve, as well as being the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and the only location to see the chimpanzee in Kenya. Other wildlife to be seen include African elephants, lions, cheetahs, elands, and giraffes. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ol-Pejeta / Samburu

Have an early start to your day with a pre-breakfast game drive. Return to the lodge for your breakfast, then exit the park and continue your safari by driving to Samburu National Reserve. Arrival at the park will be in the afternoon. The park is famous for its high concentration of the reticulated giraffe. You'll also enjoy the presence of big cats, buffalos, rhinos, elephants, and the elusive leopards. Moreover, it has a wide variety of birds (300 species).

Check in at the lodge for lunch and then relax within the lodge in the afternoon. You will have a late afternoon game viewing drive and then return for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: Samburu

This will be a full day in the park and it will start off with an early rise to enjoy a pre-breakfast game drive at 6:30 a.m. You'll return to the lodge for your breakfast and then, you'll relax within the lodge. You will have another game drive in the evening from 4:00 p.m., then return for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Samburu / Nairobi

This being the last day of the safari, you will have your breakfast, followed by a game drive before you exit the park and drive back to the capital city, Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon. Drop off at the airport or hotel.

Location

Lake Nakuru National Park

The park lies in Central Kenya, 140 kilometers north-west of Nairobi, in Nakuru district of the Nakuru county. It is best known for its thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos nesting along the shores. The ecosystem comprises of the lake, surrounded by mainly wooded and bushy grasslands. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with flamingos (greater and lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino and buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

Ol-Pejeta Conservancy

The park is famous for its rare species of the reticulated giraffe, as well as the predators. Animals to be seen include elephants, lions, cheetahs, elands, giraffes, chimpanzees, and many others.

Samburu National Reserve

The Samburu National Reserve is a game reserve on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro river in Kenya, which separates it from the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. It is situated at the southeastern corner of Samburu District in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya.
