At 09:00, from Nairobi, you will have a 2.5-hour drive to Aberdares Country Club. You will pass through the industrial town of Thika and the intensely cultivated farms of the central Kenya. Relax at Aberdares Country Club, and lunch will be served at 13:00. At 15:00, you will be transferred to a lodge vehicle to The Ark Lodge, one of the famous lodge in the Aberdares National Park, where you will have dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast at The Ark Lodge, you will transferred back to Aberdares Country Club. Then, have a drive to Lake Nakuru in time for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. After lunch, you will proceed for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park.
The park’s swamps and marshes are home to water birds including the famed pink flamingos and around 450 terrestrial bird species. The buffalos, white rhinos, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, and over 56 mammal species are in abundance. Your stay and dinner will be in a world class lodge such as the spectacular Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or you can choose other accommodation to stay at.
At 08:00, you will drive via the Great Rift Valley to arrive at Masai Mara in time for lunch at Mara Simba Lodge. After lunch, go for an afternoon game drive until dusk. You will have dinner and a 2-night stay at Mara Simba Lodge.
The wildlife variety in Maasai Mara National Reserve is truly overwhelming. You can spot Thomson’s gazelles, zebras, black rhinos, buffaloes, elephants, leopards, lions, foxes, jackals, impalas, and hippopotamuses in addition to the abundant bird species.
If photography is your prime interest, then an extension of your safari will mostly reward your quest for the perfect wildlife shot. At 06:30, have an early morning game drive in Maasai Mara National Reserve. You will then return to the lodge for breakfast and spend the rest of the morning at leisure. After having lunch at the lodge, you will proceed at 16:00 for an afternoon game drive until dusk. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Mara Simba Lodge.
At 06:30, you may take the opportunity to fly over Maasai Mara National Reserve in a hot air balloon provided at an extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild. If you can spare the money, viewing abundant game afloat a balloon is an unforgettable experience. After breakfast, you will return to Nairobi and arrive in the afternoon.
Aberdares National Park is situated in the central highlands of central Kenya. The 767-square kilometer park cuts through valleys and deeply forested habitat and slopes in the western region. The black rhino is among the wildlife to be spotted in the park together with elephants, Sykes monkeys, colobus monkeys, leopards, baboons, and occasionally the bongo antelopes (found in the bamboo forest), and lions.
The eland and serval cats are to be found higher up in the moorland. Wildlife and bird viewing is not all the park offers.
