Welcome to Johannesburg! You will be met at the door of your aircraft with your name on a paging board and assisted through immigration, baggage collection, and customs before being shown to your onward flight to Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Settle into your villa at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge overlooking the verdant landscape along the bank of the Sabie River.
Spend the next 2 days exploring the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which is renowned for its excellent leopard sightings. See the Big 5 of Africa on morning and afternoon game drives and guided bush walks. In the evenings, enjoy delicious meals and unwind in your private plunge pool surrounded by open plains.
Today, you will be transferred to Marataba Trails Lodge. This exclusive boutique lodge is utterly disconnected from the stress of the outside world. Enjoy stunning views of the sunset from your open-air suite and rest up for tomorrow’s adventure.
The next 2 days are yours to spend at your leisure. After a scrumptious breakfast, reconnect with nature on guided hikes and walking safaris in some of South Africa’s most beautiful and untouched landscapes. The Marataba trails take you into the mountains, along the rocky river, and into dramatic gorges only accessible by foot. No matter which terrain you wish to explore, you’re sure to run into plenty of wildlife. Return to the luxury lodge each evening with weary legs and an invigorated spirit.
Enjoy a private road transfer to O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB), where you’ll catch your flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your stylish rooms at More Quarters. This homey hotel is located on a quiet street away from the tourist hub, but is still within easy walking distance of a variety of boutique stores, restaurants and bars, and Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain.
Today, enjoy a Cape Town walking tour to experience Cape Town’s history, its people, and its cuisine. Indulge in a true taste of Cape Town with culinary samples of traditional food, street food, and modern “foodie” delights. After your half-day tour, spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful coastal city of Cape Town.
Spend the day experiencing the very best of South Africa’s delicious wine on a private, full-day tour of the Cape Winelands. Travel through the picturesque valleys of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl, enjoying wine tastings in each of these renowned regions. You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy the fabled culinary skills of the Franschhoek chefs at one of the area’s many gourmet restaurants.
Today, your South Africa safari comes to an end. You will be transferred to the airport to begin your journey home.
South Africa is a great destination for the adventure. It boasts fantastic wildlife viewing, beautiful beaches, trendy cities and so much more. Located at the southern end of Africa, South Africa is home to a variety of epic landscapes and terrain. From the Kalahari Desert, the Namakwa region, Table Mountain and Cape Point, to the five distinct ecosystems of KwaZulu-Natal’s iSimangaliso Wetlands, South Africa is home to countless unique experiences. If you’re looking for something a little more cosmopolitan, check out the buzzing metropolitan of Cape Town. Or for a luxurious way to view the whole country, board the Rovos Rail.
O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg is the air transport hub of Southern Africa and is linked to the rest of the world by many major airlines. This competition makes flights to South Africa relatively cheap and it is always worth looking for specials.
Other international airports are located in Cape Town and Durban, but these are less relevant for further travel to your safari destination. In any case, few flights from Europe or America fly directly to either destination.
