This safari tour takes you to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest conservation area. Partake in interesting activities like hiking to the top of the falls where the gentle Nile River explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down, forming the world's strongest waterfall. In this wildlife wandering experience, hippos, waterbucks, and buffaloes, to name a few, are the animals expected to be seen. Take this opportunity to go on an amazing trip that you'll remember for a lifetime.
You will be accommodated in single or double rooms at the Fort Murchison Lodge. Set on the Eastern banks of the slow-flowing Albert Nile, the Fort Murchison Lodge revokes the idea of a well-maintained, isolated outpost from times where Arab traders frequented the African hinterlands and legendary explorers led expeditions in search of the source of the Nile. Built in the right spot and inspired by the historical background, Fort Murchison is unlike any other lodge in Uganda.
The lodge consists of 12 en-suite units comprised by a spacious bedroom with comfortable beds, bathrooms with countersunk basins, and showers with plenty of hot water from solar heaters. All rooms boast a writing desk and a private balcony with its own sofa. The atmosphere is a mix of African luxury with a touch of Swahili style.
You will travel in a four-wheel drive land cruiser with a well-experienced private safari driver-guide. The vehicle is air-conditioned and with a pop-up roof for game viewing and photography. It is also equipped with charging sockets and enough legroom. Your guide will be readily waiting for you at your hotel, then you will set off to Murchison Falls National Park after your breakfast.
You will start your journey by heading to the northern route. Enjoy a cruise through the famous Luwero Triangle until your group gets to the Nakasongola District near Nakitoma village. You will have a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only home to the rhinos in the wild of Uganda, for a rhino tracking experience. Get close to the rhinos and grab the perfect opportunity for photographs.
Later on, you will have another stopover at the town of Masindi for lunch and then enter Murchison Falls National Park. This park is one of the most interesting destinations to visit while in Uganda as it is well-known for its wildlife and beautiful scenery and landscape. You will have a sunset hiking experience to the see the top of Murchison Falls. Witness the Nile River explode violently and form a very powerful waterfall. You will check in at the Fort Murchison Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After having an early morning breakfast at your lodge, you will prepare for a game drive in Murchison Falls National Park in search for animals that reside there. The animals you should expect to meet include elephants, lions, giraffes, and other different species of animals. In the afternoon, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will proceed with a boat cruise at the bottom of Murchison Falls where, at the comfort of your boat, you will see different animal species such as hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and buffaloes at the water's edges. Dinner and an overnight stay will still be at Fort Murchison Lodge.
For this day, you will start with an early morning game drive to meet the resident animals as they go back to their hideouts. Explore the park to its fullest as you encounter different animal and bird species. You will later on return to the lodge for breakfast and make preparations for a transfer back to Kampala.
The park is located about 301 kilometers from Kampala, and is the location of Murchison Falls where the waters of the Nile flow through a narrow gorge before plunging down and creating a very strong waterfall. The park can be accessed through the Bugubgu gate as you drive from Masindi, the nearest large town, to the Kibanda area of the national park.
Alternatively, the northern route through the Tangi gate near the town of Pakwach, Chobe gate, and Wankwar gate near Purongo all lead to Paraa, an attraction within the park.
The sanctuary is located approximately 180 kilometers (110 miles) by road to the north of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. This location is near Nakitoma village, Nakasongola District, in the Kafu River Basin, off the Kampala-Gulu highway.
All three daily meals up to breakfast on the day of departure are included in the price of this retreat. A number of dishes will be served depending on Fort Murchison Lodge's menu and the availability of recipes and ingredients. The meals include regular food and may also include vegetarian, vegan, organic, pescatarian, fruitian, and raw food options. The lodge kindly asks that you to let them know in advance if you have any dietary specifications so that they can cater to your request.
