Day 1: Nairobi - Amboseli

You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel/residence or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). From there, you will depart for the Amboseli National Park via the Nairobi-Mombasa road. This morning drive will be via typical African savanna country, which is dotted with local homesteads and colorful Masai herdsmen grazing their cattle. You will eventually arrive at the Amboseli National Park in time for lunch.

You can take a midday rest and later venture into the park for the scheduled afternoon game viewing drive. Throughout this drive, you will be in search of elephants, giraffe, zebra, lions, cheetah, warthogs, ostriches, and many others. Mount Kilimanjaro dominates the skyline and surrounding countryside, being the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Mount Kilimanjaro, with its snow-capped peak, will dominate the background as you marvel at the wildlife and scenery. Later on that evening, your overnight stay will be at Sentrim/Kibo Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Amboseli - Nairobi

You will enjoy an early pre-breakfast game viewing drive in search of the predators and grazers. Later that day, you will arrive back in Nairobi late in the afternoon or evening. Drop off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) or your Nairobi hotel.

Amboseli belongs in the elite of Kenya’s national parks, and it’s easy to see why. Its signature attraction is the sight of hundreds of big-tusked elephants set against the backdrop of Africa’s best views of Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters). Africa’s highest peak broods over the southern boundary of the park, and while cloud cover can render the mountain’s massive bulk invisible for much of the day, you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas when the weather clears, usually at dawn and/or dusk.

Apart from guaranteed elephant sightings, you’ll also see wildebeest and zebras, and you've got a reasonable chance of spotting lions, cheetahs and hyenas. The park is also home to over 370 bird species, and it has an excellent array of lodges and an agreeably mild, dry climate.
