Kiambi Safari owns and operates an exclusive lodge in the Lower Zambezi Valley - Kiambi Lower Zambezi, situated in the Chiawa Game Management area of the Zambezi Valley, in a prime location on the confluence of the Zambezi and Kafue Rivers. The lodge welcomed the first guests at Kiambi Lower Zambezi in May 1999 and has from its inception, enchanted one and all by truly capturing the essence of the Lower Zambezi. Kiambi Lower Zambezi offers a unique composite experience, a rare combination of Africa’s culture, scenery, and wildlife. This is “the real Africa”. Each of the luxury thatched chalets is set on a raised wooden platform, with spacious en-suite facilities and private verandas with a view over the Zambezi. While relishing the supreme comfort, furnished stylishly in Rhodesian teak and equipped with the necessities to make your stay comfortable; Kiambi guests never lose that close-to-nature experience.

Pioneer Camp has a variety of miombo chalets, safari chalets, pioneer chalets, and pioneer tents as well as a beautiful two bedroomed cottage, all set within the 25 acres of miombo woodland. All chalets are designed to be totally in keeping with your African safari. All miombo chalets have ensuite facilities, with private verandas and lovely woodland views. There is an incredibly relaxed feel to the whole property.

Your accommodation at Pioneer Camp will be in luxury safari chalets which have en-suite facilities. Pioneer Camp is located just 14 kilometers (30 minutes) from the international airport or Lusaka’s shopping centers, so Pioneer is the last oasis stopover. It’s the ideal place to be if you need to be near Lusaka but don’t want to be in it. You can safely walk around the grounds, which are surprisingly good for birding.

At the center of Pioneer is the open thatched bar and restaurant. This is open from 07:00 until 23:00 every day, although they are always able to provide a breakfast for guests heading off to the airport prior to this time. Coffee and tea are always available here, along with drinks from the bar, which can be brought to your chalet if requested.

Pioneer Lodge and Camp is well known for the candlelit braai meals served in the evenings - in particular, the tasty 500-milligram T-bones! Guests can choose their dinner from the a'la'carte evening menu.

Within the grounds, there is a recreation area with a small swimming pool. Inside the bar, there is a library of informative books about the wildlife, fauna, and flora of Zambia along with books about other parts of Africa.

Pioneer’s curio shop stocks a variety of items from across Zambia. Some of the pieces are bought locally, supporting the talents showcased at markets by local craftsmen; other items are handmade here at Pioneer. There is also a range of stock from a charity based in Mfuwe called ASAP which stands for Aids Support and Awareness Project; their aim is to take women off the streets and teach them how to make a varitey of items to sell in order to create a better life for themselves. All proceeds from the ASAP items goes to the ladies of the charity. They also sell paintings, from which all profits go towards anti-poaching in Zambia and they have a range of health and beauty products from Essential Zambia which are all handmade from natural ingredients found here in Zambia

Mukambi Safari Lodge

Commonly known as “The Gateway to The Kafue National Park”, Mukambi Safari Lodge is centrally located in the park, right on the banks of the stunning Kafue River. The Kafue National Park is one of the largest national parks in Africa (roughly the size of Wales at more than 22,000 square kilometers).

The lodge has eight comfortable en-suite chalets for two persons of which one a family unit (four persons) with ensuite bathroom (rondavel type), 24-hour electricity and hot water. Chalets come with either one queen size double bed or two single beds with cotton sheets, duvet (extra blankets available) and mosquito nets. Bathroom comes with shower, toilet, basin, and mirror. Outside terrace with chairs and side table are also available.

The main area houses a bar, restaurant, and Wi-Fi. There is also a swimming pool in the area and several decks which overlook the Kafue River.

Wildlife Safari Camp

Wildlife Safari Camp is a safari-camp on the banks of the Luangwa River in Zambia. This camp provides guests with an affordable front-row seat to one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa, South Luangwa National Park. Since 1992, Wildlife Camp has been one of the most famous and popular camps in the Luangwa Valley, providing the guests with spectacular and authentic experiences in the African bush.

Wildlife Safari Camp has nine en-suite chalets, five of which are situated in a quiet corner of the camp, overlooking a lagoon area, and surrounded by huge shady trees while the other four are located in the center of the camp, conveniently close to the reception area, main bar, and restaurant. These four chalets each offer unique views over the Luangwa River. Location

This safari will take place in Zambia, including Livingstone, Victoria Falls, Lower Zambezi National park, Kafue National Park, and South Luangwa National Park.

Lower Zambezi National Park

This Park is still relatively undeveloped, it’s beauty lies in its wilderness state. The diversity of animals is not as wide as the other big parks, but the opportunities to get close to game wandering in and out of the Zambezi channels are spectacular. The park lies opposite the famous Mana Pools Reserve in Zimbabwe, so the whole area on both sides of the Zambezi River is a massive wildlife sanctuary.

The river’s edge is overhung with a thick riverine fringe, including ebony and fig trees. Further inland is a floodplain fringed with mopane forest and interspersed with winterthorn trees and huge acacias. The hills which form the backdrop to the Park are covered in broadleaf

Even though the Lower Zambezi National Park covers an area of 4092 square kilometers, most of the game is concentrated along the valley floor. There is an escarpment along the northern end which acts as a physical barrier to most of the park’s animal species. Enormous herds of elephant, some up to 100 strong, are often seen at the river’s edge. ‘Island hopping’ buffalo and waterbuck are common. The Park also hosts good populations of lion and leopard, and listen too for the ubiquitous cry of the fish eagle.

South Luangwa National Park

For most visitors, South Luangwa National Park is by far the most practical park to visit in the valley. This is Zambia’s premier wildlife park, with superb wildlife and many excellent camps. This is where the now famous walking safaris started from over 60 years ago and this unique African destination retains some of the finest world-class safari guides.

There are many contenders for the title of Africa's best game park. The Serengeti, Amboseli, Ngorongoro Crater, Etosha, Kruger, Moremi, and Mana Pools would certainly be high on the list. South Luangwa has a better claim than most. Some of these other areas will match its phenomenally high game densities. Many others - the lesser known of Africa's parks - will have equally few visitors. One or two also allow night drives, which open up a different, nocturnal world to view, allowing leopards to be commonly seen and even watched whilst hunting.

However, few have South Luangwa's high quality of guiding together with its remarkable wildlife spectacles, day and night, in the isolation of a true wilderness. These elements, perhaps, are how the contenders ought to be judged, and on these the South Luangwa Park comes out around the top of the list.
