Experience a thrilling adventure that gets you whisked away to the magical Maasai Mara National Park and the amazing Amboseli National Park (the land of Jumbo elephants). Go on daily guided game-tracking trips where you can take myriads of enviable selfies and jaw-dropping photos of wildlife. This safari offers days of memorable moments and nights of blissful rest at the luxurious Mara Sopa lodge and Amboseli Sopa lodge. You deserve this. Enjoy!
You will stay on Sopa properties: Maasai Mara Sopa Lodge and Amboseli Sopa Lodge.
This was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their center.
The lodge has fifty guest cottages divided into two wings on either side of the main public areas. Each of these houses two spacious guest rooms with queen and king-size beds, mosquito nets, electronic safes, dressing tables, en-suite bathrooms, and sheltered verandas that all have views over the gardens and the game reserve beyond.
Set in 200 acres of private land, and with a rustic charm all of its own, the lodge nestles in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at almost six thousand meters, is Africa’s highest and most famous snow-capped mountain.
It was this region of Kenya that, in the 1930s, inspired Ernest Hemingway’s unforgettable stories ‘The Snows of Kilimanjaro’ and ‘The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber’ which were turned into more than successful feature films in the late 1940s due to their renowned actors. All forms of wildlife still abound in this wilderness which continues all the way to the Amboseli National Park, an easy twenty-minute drive away from the lodge.
Rustic, well-spaced cottages meander through the vast expanse of the lodge's mature gardens and house the eighty-three guest rooms. These are all brightly decorated with Maasai-themed wall murals, and each room has been purpose-built to contain either one or two queen-sized beds as well as a veranda.
At 08:30 a.m. you will depart from your Nairobi hotel for the Masai Mara Game Reserve, stopping at the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley and at Narok town for the final shopping and refueling. Check in upon arrival, have lunch then an afternoon game drive in the reserve which is famous for its high animal concentration, abundance, and, variety. Absolute Holiday Safaris will cater to a picnic lunch at the hippo pool. In the evening, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Wake up a bit late, have your breakfast at leisure and later proceed for the Maasai village for the cultural tour for about an hour, depart the Mara region for Nakuru, lunch en route, with chances to view the Longonot mountain and lake Naivasha from the main highway. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or Similar.
After breakfast, you will proceed on a game drive in the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park, the abode of various water birds that breed in the lake's alkaline waters including flamingo, white rhino, Rothschild's giraffe, and plain games are other species encountered while water-buck and cape buffalo are common on the lake-shore.
