Samburu National Reserve is one of the explored national reserves and you will be lucky to find the four of the big five here, namely the leopard, lion, elephant, and buffalos. Other great wildlife also inhabits this game reserve and the driver guide will always be there to help you trace the animals.
Camel Gate Lodge is located Near Samburu National reserve and is a good place for accommodation to those wishing to visit the reserve and the Buffalo Springs. During this safari, you will be staying in double, twin, or triple rooms, depending on your group size.
After breakfast at your Nairobi hotel, meet with Absolute Holiday Safaris staff and the driver guide for briefing and introduction to the guide. Depart Nairobi for Samburu which is located in the northern part of Kenya; drive via the equator line and reach Kikuyu Farms. Upon arrival at Samburu National Reserve, check-in at your lodge for a little siesta followed by an evening game drive.
The reserve is well supplied with water by Ewaso Nyiro River and you will be lucky to spot a huge amount of wildlife that comes to drink water from this river. After the game drive, return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.
Have breakfast at the Camels Gate Lodge, your guide will arrange for the picnic lunches and by 8 a.m., leave for a full day of game viewing. Search for the unique species of animals that inhabit this same reserve such as the Gravy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Necked Generuk, and the Biesa onyx.
There are also other animal species that are popular and can be found in other parks and reserves in Kenya, they include lion, lioness, buffalos, cheetahs, and zebra, among others. Have a break for the picnic lunch at the reserve and continue up to 5 p.m. Leave the park for an optional activity with the local community, either a visit to the village or for a camel ride. Dinner and overnight will be at Camels Gate Lodge.
Have an early morning and final game drive within Samburu National Reserve by 9 a.m. Return to the lodge for the full breakfast, check out, and drive back to Nairobi where you will be dropped at your hotel in Nairobi or be transferred to the airport to catch your flight back home or to other destinations.

Samburu National Reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in the northern part of Kenya; it’s an explored national reserve as it’s rarely visited by tourists. It measures approximately 104 square kilometers and it’s mainly a savannah grassland with clusters of acacia trees and thorn trees. It derives its name from the surrounding community, the Samburu people.
The national reserve gets its supply of water from Ewaso Nyiro River, which cuts through the reserve attracting a large number of wild animals that rely on it to drink water, it’s also home to some unique species that include Gravy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Necked gerenuk, and Beisa onyx, among other animals that can be found in other national parks and game reserves.
